Get to Know Your App
The Green Mountain Grills (GMG) Smart Control App allows you to connect to and control your pellet grill remotely. This guide covers the app's features and functionalities.
Home Screen
The Home screen provides an overview of your grill's status. You can connect to your grill, turn it on/off, view and set grill and food probe temperatures, select Profiles, and set the Timer or Stopwatch.

Download the app by scanning the provided QR codes or by searching for "Green Mountain Grills" in the iTunes App Store or on Google Play.
Connecting to Your Grill
This section details how to establish a connection between your GMG grill and the Smart Control App.
Confirm Power & Password
Ensure your grill is plugged in and has power; the display should read "off". The grill's WiFi password is its serial number, found on the green plate on the back of the grill. Use only the numbers from the serial number when prompted.
Connecting the App to Your Grill
Once your smartphone is connected to the grill's WiFi network, you can connect the app. Press the "Connect" button on the app's Home screen; it will detect nearby grills. To disconnect, press the "Connect" button again.
Connecting via WiFi Mode
To use WiFi Mode, first establish a point-to-point connection to your grill's network. Then, navigate to the Settings screen and select the "WiFi Mode" button. You will need to connect your grill to your home WiFi network. This involves selecting your network name (case-sensitive for iOS, dropdown for Android) and entering your WiFi password. Ensure you are within 20 feet of your home router for the initial setup.
Connecting via Server Mode
Server Mode allows remote monitoring and control of your grill when you are outside your home WiFi network. To use Server Mode, your grill must first be connected via WiFi Mode. In the Settings screen, tap the "Server Mode" button. You will be prompted to enter your home WiFi network name and password. The grill will then connect to the GMG server. Once connected, the app's Home screen will show a "Refresh" button instead of "Connect," displaying the last connection time. Capabilities include turning the grill on/off (from home WiFi), adjusting temperatures, and managing food probes and profiles. You will receive notifications for temperature alerts, profile completion, and low pellet warnings.
Controlling Your Grill
Manage your grill's operations directly from the app.
Turning Your Grill On/Off
On the Home screen, tap the Power button. A confirmation prompt will appear. Press "Confirm" to turn the grill on, initiating its startup sequence. To turn it off, tap the Power button and then "Confirm." The grill will enter Fan Mode to cool down the firebox.
Setting Grill Temperature
Allow your grill to reach 150°F (66°C) before setting your desired grill temperature. Press the "Set" button next to the grill temperature display. Use the slider or tap the temperature digits for precise control. Press "Confirm" to apply the new temperature setting.
Using Meat Probes
Track the internal temperature of your food using the dual meat probes. You can monitor multiple meats simultaneously or track inner and outer temperatures of a large cut. Set probe alerts by pressing the "Set" button next to the food temperature. Move the slider to your desired alert temperature and press "Confirm." An audible alarm will sound on the grill, and you will receive a notification on your device when the set temperature is reached.
Timers & Stopwatch
Activate the Timers icon in the control navigation to access Stopwatch and Timer controls. Use the Stopwatch to experiment with cooking times for building Profiles. The Timer allows you to set hours and minutes; press "Confirm" to set it. An alarm will sound when the timer expires.
Profiles
Profiles allow for customizable and programmable cooking instructions, making grilling easier and repeatable.
Creating Profiles
Navigate to the Profiles screen via the Home screen icon. Tap "Create Profile," then enter a name for your profile and press "Save."
Creating Steps
Steps automate temperature changes within a Profile. Steps can be temperature-dependent (triggered by food probe temperature) or time-dependent (dictated by elapsed time). Add steps by tapping "Add Step." Press "Confirm" to save each new profile step.
Ending Steps
At the end of a profile, you can choose a "Keep Warm" setting (maintains 150°F) or "Turn Off" (initiates Fan Mode). For new users, "Keep Warm" is recommended. If the grill enters Fan Mode before food is ready, a hot restart is suggested.
Starting Profiles
Ensure your grill is warmed up before starting a pre-created profile. Press "Select Grill Profile," choose your desired profile, and then press "Start Profile" followed by "Confirm." Profiles are loaded into the grill's memory and will continue to run even if your phone disconnects.
Editing Profiles
To edit a profile, tap the profile name, then tap the "Edit" button. This opens edit mode where you can adjust grill temperature, stop time, or food probe temperature. Tap "Add Step" to add a new step or "Delete" to remove one. Tap "Save" to confirm your edits.
Deleting Profiles
To delete a profile, tap the "Edit" button on the profile list, then tap the red delete button next to the profile you wish to remove. Press "Confirm" to finalize deletion.

Grill Firmware
Manage and update your grill's firmware for optimal performance.
Checking Firmware Version
To check your grill's firmware version: unplug the power cord, hold down the up button, and then plug the cord back in while continuing to hold the button. The LCD screen will display the version number and serial number. If no version number appears, a firmware update is needed.
Updating Firmware
To update your grill's firmware, connect your grill to your home WiFi network. Ensure the grill is on and displaying "off" (not actively cooking). Go to the Settings screen and select "Update Grill." Choose your WiFi network and enter the password (case-sensitive). The grill will display "UPD" and download the new firmware, showing progress from 0% to 100%. Upon successful completion ("SUC"), unplug and replug the grill to install the update. The grill will then display "off." If the update fails ("FAL"), check network proximity (within 20 feet), ensure you have the latest app version, or verify your network is compatible and password-protected.
Multi-Grill Mode
If you own multiple GMG grills with WiFi, Multi-Grill Mode allows you to control each one separately. Connect to each grill individually using the steps for single-grill mode. When using Multi-Grill Mode, the app searches for all available grills on the network and displays them in a "Select Grill" window. Choose the desired grill by its serial number and press "Confirm" to connect.
