Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Battery and SD Card Installation

Press the battery tray eject button to release the battery tray. The tray will eject about 1/2". With a slight pull, the tray will completely eject. Insert 6 AA Alkaline Batteries and an SD card into the camera.

Step 2: Set Time and Date

Using the control pad, set the time and date.

Step 3: Ready to Capture

Press the MODE button once. The camera will countdown a 30-second delay and then be ready to capture images.

Package Contents

SD Card Selection

Install a good quality memory card. Recommended brands include Browning, Sandisk, or Kingston. The camera supports standard Class 10 or higher SD cards ranging from 8-32 GB, and higher capacity SDXC cards from 64-512GB. Refer to the SD card size chart for storage capacity estimates.

Key components of the camera include:

Battery Installation

Release the battery tray by pressing the Battery Eject button. Insert 6 AA Alkaline, Lithium, or Rechargeable batteries, ensuring correct polarity. For optimal performance, Browning branded, Energizer™, or Duracell™ batteries are recommended. Slide the battery tray back into the camera.

Home Screen

Turn the camera on by sliding the power switch to the ON position. The home screen displays the current operation mode (Trail, Video, Timelapse Plus), the number of pictures/videos taken and remaining on the SD card, the camera delay countdown (RDY indicates readiness), and the battery life icon. The battery indicator changes to EXT when an external battery is connected.

Settings Menu

Navigate the settings menu using the control pad (UP, DOWN, ENTER, MODE buttons).

Set Time and Date

From the HOME screen, press MODE once to access the SET TIME AND DATE screen. Press ENTER to begin flashing the month. Use UP/DOWN to adjust, and RIGHT ARROW to move to the next field (day, year, hour, minute, AM/PM). Press ENTER to confirm each setting.

Operation Mode

Press ENTER on the HOME screen to access CAPTURE MODE options. Use UP/DOWN to select:

Photo Quality

Press ENTER to select PHOTO QUALITY. Use UP/DOWN to choose between LOW (2 MP), MED (4 MP), HIGH (8 MP), or ULTRA (22 MP). Press ENTER to save.

Video Quality

Press ENTER to select VIDEO RESOLUTION. Use UP/DOWN to choose between HIGH (720p @ 30 fps) or ULTRA (1080p @ 30 fps). Press ENTER to save.

Video Length

Select the desired video clip length: 5, 10, 20, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes. Note that night videos are limited to a maximum of 20 seconds to conserve battery.

Picture Delay

Set the delay between capturing still pictures or videos. Options include 1, 5, 10, 20, 30 seconds, or 1, 5, 10, 30, 60 minutes.

Multi Shot Mode

Configure the camera to take multiple shots per trigger:

Temperature Units

Choose to display temperature in Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C) on the picture's info bar.

Camera Name

Assign a custom name to your camera. Press ENTER to highlight the first character, use UP/DOWN to change, and RIGHT ARROW to move to the next character. Available characters include A-Z, 0-9, and space. Press ENTER to save.

Image Data Strip

Enable or disable the information bar printed on photos, which includes time, date, moon phase, temperature, barometric pressure, and camera ID.

Motion Test

Activate the MOTION TEST feature to aim the camera. A red LED on the front will flash when motion is detected. Remember to turn this OFF before leaving the camera in the field. Press MODE to exit test mode.

Motion Detection

Adjust the motion detection distance to 60 ft or 80 ft.

Battery Type

Select the battery type (ALKALINE, LITHIUM, RECHARGEABLE) for accurate battery level readings. The default is ALKALINE.

Trigger Speed

Configure the trigger speed to NORMAL (0.7 seconds) or FAST (0.13 seconds). NORMAL is recommended for slower-moving game, while FAST is suitable for monitoring trails.

Default Settings

Reset the camera to its factory default settings.

Timelapse Settings

Configure timelapse capture:

Smart IR Video

Enable Smart IR Video to allow daytime video clips to continue recording as long as motion is detected, up to a maximum of 5 minutes. Set to YES to enable.

SD Management

Turn SD Card Management ON to automatically erase the oldest files when the SD card is full, allowing continuous recording. If OFF, recording stops when the card is full.

Delete All

Use DELETE ALL to erase all images and reformat the SD card. It is recommended to reformat the SD card each time it is installed.

IR Flash Power

Adjust IR LED power for night photos:

Capture Timer

Set a start and stop time for the camera to operate. The default is 24 hours. For example, set START at 7 pm and STOP at 5 am for night-time capture only.

Firmware Upgrade

Firmware updates can be found on the Browning Trail Cameras website under the Customer Service tab.

Image Retrieval

Review images by inserting the SD card into your computer's SD card slot or using an SD card reader. Navigate to START/MY COMPUTER/, find the SD card icon, double-click it, then open the DCIM folder, followed by the 100_BTCF folder to access your pictures.

Timelapse Viewer Installation

To view timelapse files, install the Browning Buck Watch Timelapse Viewer software, available for download from the Browning Trail Cameras website under the CUSTOMER SERVICE tab. The software is compatible with Windows XP and later versions. Help instructions are available within the viewer.

Field Installation

Mount the trail camera approximately 3 feet off the ground. Use the included 6' nylon strap to attach to trees. For optimal positioning, consider using the Browning Trail Camera Tree Mount. Security cable loops on the back of the camera accommodate a steel cable or Python™ cable lock (not included).

Warranty

One Year Limited Warranty

Browning Trail Cameras warrants the camera for one year against defects in workmanship and materials under normal use. Browning will repair or replace the product at its discretion. The warranty does not cover damage from neglect, abuse, unauthorized modifications, or physical damage.

Warranty Service

For warranty service, contact Browning Trail Camera's customer service at 1.888.618.4496. Proof of purchase is required. The customer is responsible for packaging and shipping costs to the warranty center.
