Important! · Do not use solvents, abrasive detergents or alcohol to clean
the coffee machine. With De'Longhi superautomatic coffee machines, no chemical products are required for cleaning purposes. · None of the components of the machine can be washed in a dishwasher, except for the milk container (D). · Do not use metal objects to remove encrustations or coffee deposits as they could scratch metal or plastic surfaces.

edge and damage the appliance, the surface it rests on or the surrounding area.

11.2 Cleaning the internal circuit If the appliance is not used for more than 3/4 days, before using it again, we strongly recommend switching it on and: · performing 2/3 rinse cycles (see section "6.1 Rinsing"); · delivering hot water for a few seconds (section "10. Deliv-
ering hot water").
Please note: After cleaning, it is normal for the grounds container (A17) to contain water.
11.3 Cleaning the coffee grounds container The display indicates when the grounds container (A17) is full. The appliance cannot be used to make coffee until you have cleaned the grounds container. Even if not full, the empty grounds container message is displayed 72 hours after the first coffee has been prepared. For the 72 hours to be calculated correctly, the machine must always be connected to the mains power supply. To clean (with the machine on):
· Remove the drip tray (A19) (fig. 19), empty and clean.
· Empty the grounds container and clean thoroughly to remove all residues left on the bottom. This can be done with the spatula on the brush (C5) provided.

Important!

19

When removing the drip tray, the grounds container must always be emptied, even if it has not filled up appreciably. If this is not done, when you make the next coffees, the grounds container may fill up more than expected and clog the machine.

11.4 Cleaning the drip tray The drip tray (A19) is fitted with a level indicator (A20) (red) showing the amount of water it contains (fig. 20). Before the indicator protrudes from the cup tray (A18), the drip tray must be emptied and cleaned, otherwise the water may overflow the

20

21

To remove the drip tray: 1. Remove the drip tray and coffee grounds container (A17)
(fig. 19); 2. Remove the cup tray and drip tray grille, then empty the
drip tray and grounds container and wash all components; 3. Check the condensate tray (A16) and empty if necessary
(fig. 21). 4. Put the drip tray complete with grille and grounds contain-
er back in the appliance.

11.5 Cleaning the insideof the appliance

Danger of electric shock!

Before cleaning internal parts, the machine must be turned off

(see section "5. Turning the appliance off") and unplugged from

the mains power supply. Never immerse the machine in water.

1. Check regularly (about

once a month) that the

inside of the appliance

(accessible after removing

the drip tray (A19)) is not

dirty. If necessary, remove

coffee deposits with the

brush (C5) supplied and

a sponge;

22

2.

Remove all residues with a vacuum cleaner (fig.

22).

11.6 Cleaning the water tank 1. Clean the water tank (A14) regularly (about once a month)
and whenever you replace the water softener filter (C4) (if provided) with a damp cloth and a little mild washing up liquid; 2. Remove the filter (C4) (if present) and rinse with running water;

13

3. Replace the filter (if installed), fill the tank (A14) with fresh water and replace;
4. (Models with water softener filter only) Deliver 100ml of water to reactivate the filter.
11.7 Cleaning the coffee spouts 1. Clean the coffee spouts (A9) regularly with a sponge or cloth (fig. 23); 2. Check the holes in the coffee spouts are not blocked. If necessary, remove coffee deposits with a toothpick (fig. 23).

Do not use detergents to clean the infuser as this could cause damage. 5. Soak the infuser in water for about 5 minutes, then rinse
under the tap;

23
11.8 Cleaning the pre-ground coffee funnel Check regularly (about once a month) that the pre-ground coffee funnel (A4) is not blocked. If necessary, remove coffee deposits with the brush (C5) supplied.
11.9 Cleaning the infuser The infuser (A12) must be cleaned at least once a month.
Important! The infuser cannot be extracted when the machine is on. 1. Make sure the machine has run the shutdown procedure
correctly (see "5. Turning the appliance off"); 2. Remove the water tank (fig. 2).

26

27

6. Use the brush (C5) to remove any coffee residues left in the infuser housing, visible through the infuser door.
7. After cleaning, replace the infuser by sliding it onto the internal support (fig. 26), then push the PUSH symbol fully in until it clicks into place.

Please note:

5. Rinse inside the froth adjustment dial seat with running water (fig. 31).
6. Check that the intake tube and spout are not clogged with milk residues.
7. Replace the dial (in correspondence to the word "INSERT"), spout and milk intake tube.
8. Place the lid back on the milk container.
Please note: washing by hand Washing in a dishwasher guarantees the perfect hygiene of all the milk container components. When washing by hand, wash all components of the milk container thoroughly withhot water and immerse them in a basin of hot water for 30 minutes before proceeding as described in point 5.
11.11 Cleaning the hot water nozzle Every now and then, clean the connection nozzle (A10) with a sponge to remove milk residues from the gaskets (fig. 18).

12. DESCALE

descaler pack. · It is important to use De'Longhi descaler only. Using un-
suitable descaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly may result in faults not covered by the manufacturer's guarantee. · Descaler could damage delicate surfaces. If the product is accidentally spilt, dry immediately.
