Introduction
The NEC MF800 Series is a high-density Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) system capable of constructing systems with up to 16 wavelengths. This advanced system enables the transmission of multiple video and control signals over a single optical fiber, offering significant efficiency and bandwidth advantages for broadcast and media applications.
Key Features
3G-compatible SDI Distribution and Transmission
The system utilizes the latest devices to offer 3G/HD/D1-SDI compatible DDA, VDA, and optical transmission I/F units. The 2U chassis supports dual power supplies and can house up to 10 units, providing a robust and flexible solution.
Improved Maintenance with Front-Access Structure
Designed for ease of maintenance, the active devices on the circuit boards are located on the front side of the chassis, allowing for simple insertion and removal of units. Furthermore, the cooling FANs are also modular, enabling replacement from the front of the rack.
Dual Power Supply, Hot-Swappable, and SNMP Monitoring Support
The MF800 Series supports dual power supplies, allowing for board replacement while the system is powered on (hot-swappable). Integration with network management systems is facilitated by the optional CPU card, which enables SNMP-based alarm monitoring.
8-Wavelength WDM System Configuration Example
The diagram illustrates an 8-wavelength WDM system configuration. On the left, a 2U MF820 Frame houses a CWDM MUX Unit. It accepts 8 channels of 3G/HD/D1-SDI signals, which are converted to optical signals (E/O) at specific wavelengths (1471nm to 1610nm) and transmitted via SC connectors and single-mode optical fiber. On the right, another 2U MF820 Frame contains a CWDM DEMUX Unit. It receives the optical signals via SC connectors and single-mode optical fiber, converts them back to electrical signals (O/E) at the corresponding wavelengths, and outputs 8 channels of 3G/HD/D1-SDI signals.

MF820 Frame External View
The MF820 Frame external view shows the front panel with a FAN panel and a Power Unit (PS-L). The rear panel features GPI, AC IN (PS-U), Ethernet (RJ45) port, and another AC IN (PS-L) port. Internally, the frame can accommodate up to 10 distribution and transmission boards and has a dedicated slot for a frame controller.
