How Do I Connect My Liftmaster Garage Door To Wi-Fi?
Introduction
Your Liftmaster MyQ Wi-Fi garage door opener can be linked to your Alarm.com account. This integration allows you to control your garage door opener remotely, check its status (open or closed), and receive notifications if it remains open after you have left your home. These capabilities are accessible via the Alarm.com app on your mobile device or through your login on the Alarm.com website at www.alarm.com. To enable this functionality, you must connect the garage door opener to your Wi-Fi network.
Follow the steps below to connect your Liftmaster MyQ Wi-Fi garage door opener to Wi-Fi:
Connection Steps
-
Put the garage door in learn mode.
Locate the push button on your garage door opener's wall control unit. Lift the plastic cover to reveal two buttons. Press the learn button. You will hear a single beep, indicating that the opener has entered learn mode. Gently close the cover back to its original position.

-
Connect to the MyQ network.
On your mobile device, navigate to your Wi-Fi settings. Look for a network named similarly to "MyQ-***". Select this network to connect. The connection process may take a moment. It will likely display as an unsecured network, which is normal for this setup process.

-
Connect to the Garage Door.
Open your preferred internet browser (e.g., Safari or Chrome) on a computer or mobile device. In the address bar, type setup.myqdevice.com and press Enter.
-
Enter the Wi-Fi information.
The setup page will load. Tap "Start" to begin the configuration. Select your home Wi-Fi network from the list provided. Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted, then tap "Next". The garage door opener will emit a series of beeps. Successful connection is confirmed when you hear three long beeps.
-
Get the serial number.
After hearing the three beeps, tap "Yes" to confirm. The serial number for your garage door opener will be displayed. This number is necessary for linking the device to your Alarm.com account. It is recommended to write this number down or take a screenshot for your records.
-
Reset your Wi-Fi.
You have now completed the Wi-Fi connection for the garage door opener. Return to your mobile device's Wi-Fi settings and switch back to your regular home Wi-Fi network.
-
Login to Alarm.com website.
To integrate your garage door opener with Alarm.com, log in to your Alarm.com account via the website at www.alarm.com. This step should be performed on a computer or mobile device browser, not through the Alarm.com app.
-
Access Automation Devices menu.
Once logged into Alarm.com, navigate to the Main Menu (usually located in the top left corner). Select "Settings", then "Devices", and finally "Liftmaster Installation".
[Visual Description: Alarm.com interface showing navigation to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Liftmaster Installation'. The 'Automation Devices' section lists connected devices like 'Lamp', 'Conference Room', and 'Upstairs Thermostat', with an option to '+Lift Master Installation'.]
-
Enter the serial number.
To initialize the garage door opener, open or close your garage door once using the physical push button on the wall. Then, enter the serial number you obtained earlier into the Alarm.com interface. Select "Continue". The system will confirm that the device has been activated.
-
Wrapping up.
You can now select the garage door device within Alarm.com and rename it if desired. Once finished, return to the Main Menu, select "Home", and locate the garage door symbol. Tap this symbol to open or close your garage door and verify that the connection and control are working correctly.
Note: You may need to log out of the Alarm.com app and log back in for the changes to appear and for the garage door to be visible in the interface.
