Attention
⚠️ To avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse, and test that the power is off before wiring.
⚠️ Neutral Wire is required. (Please kindly check your house wires if your house was built prior to the mid-80's.)
⚠️ Make sure wall boxes have 18 cu in. volume or above.
⚠️ In a 3-Way installation, DO NOT use two smart dimmer switches to control one light.
? Need 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (Does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi).
? Only Non-smart dimmable bulbs are Supported (430W Max. for INC, and 250W Max. for CFL & LED).

Product Outline
The U-tec Smart Dimmer Switch features:
- Dimming Area: Swipe up/down to adjust the brightness of light.
- Brightness Indicator: Indicates the current/last brightness of light.
- ON/OFF Button: Press to turn the switch on or off.
- Reset/Configuration Mode: Press and hold for 5 seconds to initiate configuration mode.
Status Indicator:
- Solid Green: Indicates that the light is switched on.
- Solid White: Indicates that the light is switched off.
- Flash Green (Slow): Configuration mode initiated.
- Flash Green (Fast): Connecting to WiFi.
Dimensions (approximate): 4.57" (116mm) H x 2.82" (71.5mm) W.

A. Installation for Single Pole

Before Installation: Turn Off Power
Turn off the power at the circuit breaker or fuse, and test that the power is off before installation.

⚠️ CAUTION: Compatible bulb type/max Load: Incandescent/430W, LED&CFL/250W. Please check your bulb/load before installation.
STEP 1: Pull Out Old Switch
⚠️ WARNING: Before pulling out, turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse, and use a voltage tester to confirm whether power is off before wiring.
Unscrew the switch plate, old switch and pull it out of the wall. Do not remove any wires.
STEP 2: Get to know the wires
Wire Identification:
- Line: Usually black.
- Load: Usually black, connected to the light.
- Neutral: Usually white.
- Ground: Usually green or copper.
⚠️ WARNING: Neutral wire is required to install the smart switch. If you can't find the neutral wire, please call an electrician for help.
STEP 3: Identify and Label "Line" wire
- Disconnect the line and load wires from the dumb switch, then cover them with provided wire nuts for safety.
- Turn on the circuit breaker and use a voltage tester to identify the energized wire (line wire).
- Turn off the circuit breaker and label the Line wire.

STEP 4: Label the Other Wires
Label the other wires as load wire, ground wire, and neutral wires.

STEP 5: Take Pictures of the Wires
Take one or two pictures of the old switch and where each wire is connected to it, in case you need guidance to reverse the installation.
? NOTE: Make sure all of the text on the labels in the pictures are clearly displayed.
STEP 6: Remove existing Dumb Switch
⚠️ WARNING: Before removing, turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse and use a voltage tester to confirm the power is off.
Disconnect all wires and remove the dumb switch, then connect them to the smart switch.

STEP 7: Connect the Smart Switch (Single Pole)
Make sure the power is turned OFF before you proceed. Your existing wires may have different colors than those shown.
- Connect Neutral and Ground Wires: Use wire nuts to connect the Neutral/Ground from the outlet box to the respective NEUTRAL/Ground from the smart switch, as shown in the picture. (Neutral: usually white; Ground: usually green or copper.)
- Connect Line Wire: Use a wire nut to connect the labeled Line wire from the outlet box to the LINE wire coming from the smart switch.
- Connect Load Wire: Use a wire nut to connect the labeled Load wire from the outlet box to the LOAD wire coming from the smart switch.
⚠️ WARNING: All wires from the Smart Switch must be capped with wire nuts.
⚠️ WARNING: Death or serious injury may occur if instructions are not properly followed.

STEP 8: Mount the Switch
Form all wires carefully into the outlet box, and mount the switch with the supplied screws.

STEP 9: Turn on Power
Turn the power on at the circuit breaker.

Press the ON/OFF button on the smart switch to confirm whether the switch is powered on/off normally.
STEP 10: Snap on Cover Panel
Push the cover panel onto the fixing plate and snap it into place.

? NOTICE: Please turn on the smart switch first, adjust the light to the maximum brightness, press and hold ON/OFF for 5s to initiate configuration mode.
B. Installation for Three Way

STEP 1: Pull Out Old Switch

STEP 2: Get to Know The Wires.
Wire Identification:
- Line: Usually black.
- Load: Usually black.
- Tra: Usually red.
- Neutral: Usually white.
- Ground: Usually green or copper.
⚠️ WARNING: Neutral wire is required to install the smart switch. If you can't find the neutral wire, please call an electrician for help.
STEP 3: Label "Load/Tra" Wires
Do not cross Load/Tra wires between the two outlet boxes. For example, label the red wire as Tra for both outlet boxes.

STEP 4: Label "Neutral" and "Ground" wire
A neutral wire is required to install the smart switch. Make sure there are NEUTRAL wires (most likely a bundle of one or more white wires) in the wall. Unless you are replacing an existing smart switch, it's probably not connected to your old switch.

⚠️ WARNING: If there is no neutral wire, please try another location or call an electrician for help.
STEP 5: Identify and Label "Line" Wire
⚠️ WARNING: Before removing, turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse, and use a voltage tester to confirm the power is off.
- Disconnect the remaining wire (usually BLACK, attached with a black screw).
- Turn on the circuit breaker and use a voltage detector to identify the Line wire.
- Turn off the circuit breaker and label the Line wire.

STEP 6: Take Pictures of The Wires
Take one or two pictures of the old switch and where each wire is connected to it, in case you need guidance to reverse the installation.
? NOTE: Make sure all of the text on the labels in the pictures are clearly displayed.
STEP 7: Remove Existing Dumb Switch
⚠️ WARNING: Make sure the power is turned OFF before you proceed. Your existing wires may have different colors than those shown.
Disconnect all wires from the dumb switch, then connect them to the new switch.
STEP 8: Connect the Smart Switch
3-Way Connection - Line Side (1 Smart Switch and 1 Dumb Switch)
- Connect Neutral and Ground Wires: Use wire nuts to connect Neutral/Ground from the outlet box to the respective NEUTRAL/Ground from the smart switch, as shown in the picture.
- Connect Line Wire: Use a wire nut to connect the labeled Line wire from the outlet box to the wire coming from the Common port on the smart switch.
- Connect Load/Tra wires: Use wire nuts to connect the labeled Load/Tra from the outlet box to the Load/Tra coming from the smart switch, as shown in the picture.

3-Way Connection - Load Side (1 Smart Switch and 1 Dumb Switch)
- Connect Neutral and Ground Wires: Use wire nuts to connect Neutral/Ground from the outlet box to the respective NEUTRAL/Ground from the smart switch, as shown in the picture.
- Connect Line Wire: Use a wire nut to connect the labeled line wire from the outlet box to the wire coming from the common port on the smart switch.
- Connect Load/Tra Wires: Use wire nuts to connect the labeled Load/ Tra from the outlet box to the Load/Tra coming from the smart switch, as shown in the picture.
⚠️ WARNING: All wires from the Smart Switch must be capped with wire nuts.
⚠️ WARNING: Death or serious injury may occur if instructions are not properly followed.
STEP 9: Mount the Switch
Form all wires carefully into the outlet box, and mount the switch with screws supplied.

Scan the QR code to download the app, or search "U home by U-tec" in the App Store (iOS) or "U home" in Play Store (Android).

Tap the "+" button on the app's homepage to add a new device, then follow the app instructions to finish the setup.

Integrations
The Smart Dimmer Switch also works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings, and IFTTT when it is set up in the U home app.
