The oven vent releases hot air and moisture from the oven and should not be blocked or covered. Do not place plastics, paper, or other items that could melt or burn near the oven vent.
Cooktop Use
WARNING
Fire Hazard
Turn off all controls when done cooking. Failure to do so could result in death or fire.
Ceramic Glass
The surface cooking area may glow red when an element is ON. Some areas may not glow red. The glow may cycle off and on, even on Hi, to manage extreme temperatures; this is normal.
Light-colored ceramic glass may appear to change color when hot. It will return to its original color as it cools.
- Avoid storing jars or cans above the cooktop; dropping a heavy object could crack it.
- Do not leave a hot lid on the cooktop. Air trapped between a cooling cooktop and lid can cause the glass to break when the lid is removed.
- Clean spills containing sugar as soon as possible. Allow the cooktop to cool slightly, then use a scraper while wearing oven mitts. Sugary spills can adhere and cause permanent marks if left to cool.
- To avoid scratches, do not slide cookware or bakeware. Aluminum or copper bottoms and rough finishes can leave marks.
- Do not cook popcorn in prepackaged aluminum containers, as they may leave indelible aluminum marks.
- Do not allow objects that could melt (plastic, aluminum foil) to touch the cooktop.
- Do not use the cooktop as a cutting board.
- Use cookware about the same size as the surface cooking area. Cookware should not extend more than 1/2" (1.3 cm) outside the area.
Diagram Description: A diagram shows a circular cooking surface labeled 'A. Surface cooking area'. Below it are labels 'B. Cookware/canner' and 'C. 1/2" (1.3 cm) maximum overhang'.
Cookware Recommendations
Use flat-bottomed cookware for best heat conduction and energy efficiency. Cookware with rounded, warped, ribbed, or dented bottoms can cause uneven heating.
To check flatness, place a straight edge across the bottom of the cookware. Rotate the ruler; no space or light should be visible between it and the cookware.
Cookware with slightly indented bottoms or small expansion channels is acceptable.
Ensure pot and pan bottoms are clean and dry before use, as residue and water can leave deposits when heated.
Do not cook foods directly on the cooktop.
Cooktop Indicator Lights
- Cooktop On Indicator Light: Located on the front panel near switches. Glows when any cooktop element is turned on.
- Hot Surface Indicator Light: Located on the console panel. Glows as long as any surface cooking area is too hot to touch, even after the element is turned off.
Dual Zone Cooking Element
The Dual Zone cooking element offers flexibility for different cookware sizes. The single size functions like a regular element. The dual size combines single and outer elements, recommended for larger cookware.
Diagram Description: A diagram shows a circular heating element with labels 'A. Dual' and 'B. Single'.
Oven Use
Odors and smoke are normal during the first few uses or when the oven is heavily soiled. IMPORTANT: Bird health is sensitive to fumes; move birds to a well-ventilated room.

Temperature Management System
Electronically regulates oven heat levels for optimal results. Bake and broil elements/burners cycle on/off. Fan runs during preheating and may cycle during baking. Automatically activated.
Broiling
Preheat oven for 2 minutes before broiling, unless recipe states otherwise. Place food on grid in broiler pan, centered on oven rack.
IMPORTANT: Close door for proper broiling temperature. Element won't come on if door is open. Broil element turns off if door is opened during broiling and returns when closed.
Changing broil setting allows more precise control. Lower settings cook slower. Thicker/uneven pieces may cook better at lower settings. Refer to "Positioning Racks and Bakeware". Lower settings cycle element on/off to maintain temperature.
For best results, use a broiler pan and grid to drain juices and avoid spatter/smoke.
Air Baking and Roasting
NOTE: Fan shuts off when oven door is opened. If door remains open too long, heating elements shut off until door is closed. Timers continue counting down.
During air baking/roasting, elements/burners cycle on/off to maintain temperature while the fan circulates hot air.
If oven door is opened during convection baking/roasting, fan turns off immediately and comes back on when door is closed.
Cook Time (on some models)
- To Set a Timed Cook: Press Bake, enter temperature, press Cook Time, enter cook time, press START. Display counts down. Oven shuts off automatically when time ends. Press CANCEL to clear.
- To Set a Delayed Timed Cook: Ensure clock is set correctly. Press Bake, enter temperature, press Cook Time, enter cook time, press Delay Start, enter start time, press START. Oven turns on automatically at start time. Settings can be changed anytime after oven turns ON. To change delay time, cancel and repeat steps. Oven shuts off automatically when cook time ends. Press CANCEL to clear.
Counterweights
The "bricks" on the appliance are counterweights that help prevent tipping, providing stability. They are installed for safety and should not be removed. Models may have 0-4 counterweights, which may or may not be visible.
Cookware
IMPORTANT: Do not leave empty cookware on a hot surface. Ideal cookware has a flat bottom, straight sides, a well-fitting lid, and medium-to-heavy thickness.
Rough finishes may scratch the cooktop. Aluminum and copper may be used as a core or base, but can leave permanent marks if used as a base.
Cookware material affects heat transfer. Nonstick finishes take on the properties of their base material (e.g., aluminum nonstick cookware behaves like aluminum).
Cookware with nonstick surfaces should not be used under the broiler.
Check flatness by placing a straight edge across the bottom of the cookware. Rotate the ruler; no space or light should be visible.
Cookware with slightly indented bottoms or small expansion channels can be used.
Ensure pot and pan bottoms are clean and dry.
Do not cook foods directly on the cooktop.
Cookware Material Characteristics
COOKWARE | CHARACTERISTICS |
---|---|
Aluminum | Heats quickly and evenly. Suitable for all cooking types. Medium/heavy thickness best. May leave aluminum residues (diminish if cleaned immediately). |
Cast iron | Heats slowly and evenly. Good for browning/frying. Maintains heat for slow cooking. Rough edges may scratch cooktop. |
Ceramic or Ceramic glass | Follow manufacturer's instructions. Heats slowly, but unevenly. Ideal on low to medium heat. May scratch cooktop. |
Copper | Heats very quickly and evenly. May leave copper residues (diminish if cleaned immediately). Can leave permanent stain/bond if overheated. |
Earthenware | Follow manufacturer's instructions. Use on low heat. May scratch cooktop. |
Porcelain enamel-on-steel or cast iron | See stainless steel or cast iron. Porcelain enamel bakeware without metal base may bond to cooktop if overheated. |
Stainless steel | Heats quickly, but unevenly. Aluminum or copper core/base provides even heating. |
Home Canning
Canning can be done on glass smooth top or traditional coil element cooktops. For long canning periods, alternate surface use to allow cooling.
Center the canner on the largest surface cooking area or element. On electric cooktops, canners should not extend more than 1/2" (1.3 cm) beyond the cooking area or element.
Do not place canner on 2 surface cooking areas or elements simultaneously.
On ceramic glass models, use only flat-bottomed canners to avoid damage.
For more information, contact your local agricultural extension office or home canning guides.
Positioning Racks and Bakeware
To move a rack, pull it out to the stop position, raise the front edge, and then lift it out. Use the following illustration and chart as a guide.

To Deactivate Sabbath Mode: Press Settings, then 7 to return to regular baking, or press CANCEL to turn off the range.
Temperature Management System
This system electronically regulates oven heat levels during preheat and bake to maintain precise temperatures for optimal cooking results. Bake and broil elements or burners cycle on and off. The fan runs during preheating and may cycle during baking. This feature is automatically activated.
Before baking/roasting, position racks per "Positioning Racks and Bakeware". For roasting, it's not necessary to wait for preheat to end unless the recipe recommends it.
Broiling
Preheat oven for 2 minutes before broiling, unless recommended otherwise. Place food on grid in broiler pan, centered on oven rack.
IMPORTANT: Close the door for proper broiling temperature. The element will not come on if the door is open. If the oven door is opened during broiling, the broil element turns off immediately and returns when the door is closed.
Changing the temperature when broiling allows more precise control. Lower broil settings cook slower. Thicker/uneven pieces may cook better at lower settings. Refer to "Positioning Racks and Bakeware" for more info.
On lower settings, the broil element cycles on/off to maintain temperature.
For best results, use a broiler pan and grid to drain juices and help avoid spatter and smoke.
Air Baking and Roasting
NOTE: The fan shuts off when the oven door is opened. If the door remains open too long, heating elements shut off until the door is closed. All timers continue counting down.
During air baking/roasting, elements/burners cycle on/off to maintain temperature while the fan circulates hot air.
If the oven door is opened during convection baking/roasting, the fan turns off immediately and comes back on when the door is closed.
Cook Time (on some models)
- To Set a Timed Cook: Press Bake, enter temperature using [arrow keys], press Cook Time, enter cook time using [arrow keys], press START. Display counts down. Oven shuts off automatically when time ends. Press CANCEL to clear.
- To Set a Delayed Timed Cook: Ensure clock is set. Press Bake, enter temperature, press Cook Time, enter cook time, press Delay Start, enter start time, press START. Oven turns on automatically at start time. Settings can be changed anytime after oven turns ON by repeating steps 2-4 and pressing Start. To change delay time, cancel and repeat steps 1-7. Oven shuts off automatically when cook time ends. Press CANCEL to clear.
Odors or Smells
A small amount of smoke or odor can be normal, especially during the first uses of a new range or oven. This is caused by heating of new parts, insulating materials, protective oil coatings, or shipping tape. It should dissipate after a few uses.
IMPORTANT: Bird health is sensitive to fumes; move birds to a closed, well-ventilated room.
It is recommended not to cook food before this cycle, as the smell and taste can transfer to food.
Ensure all packaging materials are removed from the oven cavity. Set oven to "Bake" at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. Repeat if smell persists. Once cool, wipe interior with a soft, damp cloth.
NOTE: To help dissipate odor faster, open a window or increase ventilation.
