Operation
- WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with this product to make you careless.
- WARNING: Always remove battery pack from the tool when assembling parts, making adjustments, changing accessories, cleaning, or when not in use.
- WARNING: Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Hearing protection may also be required.
- WARNING: Do not use any attachments or accessories not recommended by the manufacturer.
- NOTICE: To prevent damage to the spindle or spindle lock, always allow the motor to come to a complete stop before engaging the spindle lock.
- Applications: Carving, engraving, etching, polishing, cleaning, removing rust, sanding, cutting, grinding, sharpening, drilling, and routing.
- Installing/Removing Battery Pack: Follow the instructions to install and remove the battery pack. Ensure the battery cap is securely closed.
- LED Light Functions: The LED light indicates battery status (Solid Green: Normal, Solid Red: Low Battery, Flashing Red: Excessive Force or Over Temperature).
- Overload Protection: The tool will automatically shut off if forced or overloaded. Reset by turning the switch off and then on.
- High Temperature Protection: The tool will automatically deactivate if overheated. Allow to cool before resuming operation.
- Quick-Change Collet: Ships with a preinstalled collet for 1/8 in. shanks. Allows tool-free accessory changes. Not compatible with 1/16 in. shanks. Follow instructions for removal and installation.
- Installing/Removing Accessories: Remove battery pack. Choose suitable accessory. Ensure collet is secure. Loosen collet, insert accessory shank, tighten collet. Use collet wrench if needed.
- WARNING: Always use the collet which matches the shank size of the accessory.
- DANGER: Be careful when changing accessories immediately after use; parts may be hot. Use the provided wrench or allow to cool.
- Using Mandrels: Standard, screw, and drum mandrels are used for various accessories. Follow installation instructions.
- Balancing Accessories: Slightly loosen the collet and turn the accessory to achieve balance. Replace if damaged or unbalanced.
- Installing Attachment Head to Rotary Tool: Read and understand the operator's manual for each optional attachment head. Use only RYOBI-specified attachment heads. Follow instructions for installation and removal.
- Turning the Rotary Tool On/Off: Slide the on/off switch to ON to turn on, OFF to turn off.
- Selecting the Right Speed: Tool operates from 5,000-25,000 RPM. Use a practice piece to find the best speed for the accessory and task. Refer to the Application Speed Recommendations table.
- Slower Speeds: Recommended for certain materials like plastics that melt at high speeds, and for delicate projects.

Maintenance
