7. Klever's Proprietary Propulsion – The BIACTRON-system

The BIACTRON system enhances mobility by providing electric propulsion, making slopes easier to manage and overcoming wind resistance. The system comprises:

  • Rechargeable battery
  • Motor
  • Control unit / Display
  • Motor controller
  • Torque sensor
  • Pedal Sensor
  • Charger

When you pedal, the motor supports you up to 25 km/h.

Image Description: Diagram showing BIACTRON system components (battery, motor, display, controller, sensors, charger) and an illustration of the Klever Y Muse 25 with labeled components.

6.1 Sensors and Their Function

The system uses a torque sensor in the rear dropout and a pedal sensor to accurately measure the rider's pedaling force and effort. This data, along with input from the speed sensor, allows the motor controller to precisely manage the electric support, creating a synergy between rider and bike. Support levels (N, ECO, TOUR, MAX, TURBO) can be selected for efficiency and range optimization. The speed sensor deactivates motor support above 25 km/h, after which the e-bike functions like a conventional bicycle.

Motor support engages only when pedaling. For starting from a standstill, either pedal or use the TURBO button. Without pedaling, the motor provides support up to 4 km/h. The TURBO button also aids in starting on ramps or when pushing the bike.

6.2 Levels of Electric Motor Support

The BIACTRON system offers five support levels: N (No support), ECO (Low), TOUR (Medium), MAX (Strongest), and TURBO (Strongest, for specific situations). You can select these levels using the arrow buttons (↑ and ↓) and the TURBO button (▶).

Support Level Table:

System Level Amount of Support Situation (Recommended)
N No support, electric system active Downhill
ECO Low support Flat roads
TOUR Medium support Slight hill / headwind
MAX Strongest support Steep hills / fierce headwinds
TURBO (MAX) while pedalling < 25 km/h Strongest support Steep ramps / violent gusts
TURBO (MAX) without pedalling < 4 km/h Strongest support Starting from standstill
TURBO (ECO) walking with Y Muse < 4 km/h Walk-assist, low support Walking with Y Muse or pushing uphill

TURBO Button Scenarios:

  • Walk-assist: Pushing the bike while holding the TURBO button provides moderate support up to 4 km/h.
  • Starting from standstill: Pressing the TURBO button while sitting on the bike and starting without pedaling provides strongest support up to 4 km/h.
  • Boost while pedalling: Pressing the TURBO button while pedaling in TOUR mode provides strongest support (up to 25 km/h) momentarily.

Note: These TURBO functions only work while the button is held. Releasing it returns to the previously selected support level (except for the boost-while-pedaling scenario). To conserve battery, support levels automatically reduce when battery capacity drops below 10% (TOUR), 5% (ECO), or 2% (N).

6.3 Regeneration of Battery Capacity

The BIACTRON system features a regeneration function that recovers battery capacity. When the drive system goes into freewheel mode (e.g., rolling downhill or coasting), the motor acts as a generator, converting kinetic energy into electricity to recharge the battery. This function can be activated and adjusted in the settings menu (section 6.4.3). Regeneration is most beneficial in mountainous terrain and depends on riding behavior and environment.

8. Display

The display is used to start and control the BIACTRON system. Your Y Muse 25 comes with two E-KEYs, uniquely paired to your bike. The bike will only function with these specific E-KEYs.

Activating the System: Insert the E-KEY into the display. The system will start. Alternatively, if the E-KEY is already inserted, press the On/Off button. A 3-second system check precedes operation. Pedaling also activates the system automatically.
