Grounding or PolarizationThis product may be equipped with a polarized alternating-current line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. 16. VentilationSlots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or covered. It can also be placed on any level surface near the TV above, below or to the left or right. It doesn't have to be centered in front of the TV. The ZVOX speaker performs best if it faces the people watching the TV. POWER 15V - 2A OPTICAL LINE IN LINE OUT USB OR HDMI ARC HDMI Optical HDMI (not provided) 2 Connect the HDMI or Optical Signal Cable. CABLE OPTIONS (continued in next column.) Quick Setup Guide Connect your TV to the AV855 using one of the two cable options. 1. Optical. 2. HDMI ARC. NOTE 1: Using your TV's HDMI ARC or Audio Return Channel port allows you to use your TV Remote to control the power, volume and mute functions of the speaker. NOTE: To ensure the HDMI Connection option working correctly please use an HDMI Version 2.1 (or later) cable. NOTE 2: The optical Jack on your TV is not perfectly square. You need to align the square-like end of the optical cable to the orientation of the TV's optical Jack. Once it is aligned, the cable's plug should slip into the Jack with a slight push. You may hear and feel a small "click" once the cable is inserted completely. NOTE 3: If your TV does not have either an Optical or HDMI port you may refer to the alternative connections on page 2 of manual. POWER 15V - 2A OPTICAL LINE IN LINE OUT USB HDMI ARC 3 Connect Power Cord to the ZVOX Speaker Connect the power cord to the DC jack on the back. Then connect the AC plug into an AC power receptacle. The speaker will then power on automatically. Common examples of remotes provided with TVS like Samsung, Sony, Vizio etc. 1 2 3 INPUT EXIT MENU HOME 123 456 789 0 CC OK BACK VOL INFO CH 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 4 Turn off your TV's Internal Speakers Some TVs require you to go into the audio menu of the TV and turn off the TV's internal speakers in order to get an audio signal from the optical jack. Also, turning off the TV speakers prevents an `echo' caused by both the ZVOX speaker and the TV speaker playing together. Using the remote that originally came with the television, access the settings and turn off the internal TV speakers. If you are unsure how to do this, go to zvox.com/setup and look for "TV-Speaker Hookup Videos." Or get your TV's model number from the rear panel and email us at info@zvoxaudio.com. ZVOX AV855 | Quick Setup Guide 1 Alternative Ways To Connect The AV855 TV Speaker If your TV doesn't have an optical audio output, here are some other options: a b c Back of TV HP Back of TV Cable/Satellite Set Top Box (Example) Lorem ipsum PC X IN (TV Port Example) AUDIO OUT POWER 15V - 2A OPTICAL LINE IN LINE OUT USB HDMI ARC Minijack Analog Audio Out Some TVs have a 3.5mm audio output jack or a headphone jack. Insert one end of the supplied analog "Miniplug to Miniplug" cable into the TV's audio out minijack. Insert the miniplug at the other end of the cable into the ZVOX speaker's rear input jack labeled LINE IN. If the TV has a headphone jack, you will want to make sure that the TV's volume is turned up to 50 to 75 % of maximum volume to make sure that the ZVOX speaker is receiving a strong audio signal to amplify. 2 ZVOX AV855 | Connect AV855 RCA jacks labeled "AUDIO OUT" R L Other RCA jacks (usually audio IN) R L X POWER 15V - 2A OPTICAL LINE IN LINE OUT USB HDMI ARC Cable In L R Network USB HDMI To TV Digital Audio Analog Audio Power Back of Cable/Sat Set Top Box Red and White RCA Jack Analog Audio Out Some TV models use red and white RCA jacks for the analog audio output. Be sure you have located red and white jacks on the TV that are marked as an "OUTPUT" (not "INPUT"). Next, identify the cable supplied with the ZVOX speaker that has a stereo miniplug at one end and red and white RCA plugs at the other end. Connect To Your Cable Or Satellite TV Set Top Box If your TV's audio output is inaccessible (on a wall-mounted TV, for instance) or unavailable, you can connect the audio output of your cable or satellite set top box to the ZVOX speaker. Most set top boxes have an "audio output" in addition to the HDMI output intended for use with the TV. Make The Connection Insert the end of the cable with red and white plugs into the red and white jacks on the TV labeled "OUT". Insert the miniplug at the other end of the cable into the ZVOX speaker input jack labeled LINE IN. You can connect via Optical Digital Out OR Analog connection. Optical Digital will achieve better results. To connect between the set top box red and white jacks and the ZVOX speaker, identify the cable supplied with the ZVOX speaker that has a stereo miniplug at one end and red and white RCA plugs at the other end. Follow the "Make The Connection" instructions in the previous column. POWER 15V - 2A OPTICAL LINE IN LINE OUT USB HDMI ARC USB Flash Drive USB Input Insert a USB drive to the AV855's USB port to play back MP3 music files. The FWD button on the remote will advance to the next track. The BACK button will return to the beginning of the track. The MUTE button will act as a PLAY/PAUSE button. MP3 files may be in the root of the driver OR within folders. Manual Off Operation The AV855 is equipped with an Auto On/Off function. If a signal is received at either the Optical input or the analog input, the AV855 will automatically turn on and select that input. If no audio is emitted from the speaker for a period of ~20 minutes, the speaker will automatically return to standby. Or if the system is muted for more than 5 minutes, the system will return to standby. If for some reason, the speaker turns off unexpectedly, this feature can be turned off. With the power ON, press and hold the power button on the remote for ~3 seconds. The display should indicate "noAS". This shows that the auto on/off feature has been disabled and the speaker will need to be manually turned off with the remote. The auto on/off feature can be re-activated by another press-andhold of the power button. The display will indicate "AS". This shows that auto on/off feature has been re-activated. NOTE: if the speaker is set to the ARC input, the auto feature is disabled and the TV will control Power, Volume and Mute for the AV855. ZVOX AV855 | Manual On/Off operation 3 TV to AV855 Audio Signal Cable Guide The AV855 includes two analog signal cables, one optical digital signal cable and one HDMI cable. One of these four cables will connect from most TVs or cable/satellite set top boxes to the input on the AV855. In the rare instance your TV or cable/satellite set top box has only an optical minijack audio output, an optical miniplug to optical toslink cable is needed (not supplied with the AV855). Placement Options Audio cables supplied with the AccuVoice TV Speaker AV855 HDMI (ARC) plug to HDMI plug standard optical plug to standard optical plug analog miniplug to analog miniplug red and white RCA plugs to analog miniplug HDMI HDMI from TV or set top box to AV855 Placing The AV855 TV Speaker in Front of the TV. Most people choose to place the ZVOX speaker in front of the TV. But it can also be placed on any level surface near the TV above, below or to the left or right. Choose a place that lets you direct the ZVOX Speaker towards the TV viewers. · A safe, secure installation of the AccuVoice TV Speaker is the owner's responsibility. · Do not place any objects on top of the AccuVoice TV Speaker. 4 ZVOX AV855 | Placement Options Button Functions on the ZVOX Remote Control Input Selection Press the INPUT button on the ZVOX remote to select between the speaker's input modes. INPUT POWER Power The Power button switches the ZVOX speaker between off (STANDBY) and on. When the ZVOX AV855 is powered on, the display will show ON and OFF respectively. Note: The ZVOX AV855 will also enter STANDBY if it receives no audio signal for 20 minutes. AccuVoice Press the AccuVoice button to select the AccuVoice function. Additional presses of the AccuVoice button allow you to select increasing levels of voice enhancement. There are 10 levels of AccuVoice. Starting with AccuVoice 1 through 10. ACCUVOICE SURROUND Surround Settings There are three SURROUND levels: Use this button to toggle between the various Surround setting levels. Mute Play/Pause Press this button to mute the ZVOX speaker. When the MUTE function is active, the display blinks -00- repeatedly. The AV855 will enter STANDBY if it is left in MUTE for longer than 5 minutes. The button also doubles as the Play/Pause function when using sound bar with the USB Drive. Other Settings The OTHER SETTINGS button allows you to toggle between Bass (LO) and treble (HI) and Output Leveling (OL) (Surround modes only). Output leveling is included automatically with AccuVoice settings. MUTE PLAY/PAUSE VOLUME BACK FWD OTHER SETTINGS Volume When the volume up or down arrow button is quickly pressed and released, you will see the display indicating volume increase or decrease in level. Back and Forward The Back and Forward buttons will allow you to skip forward, or back, from audio tracks when using the USB Drive Input. ZVOX AV855 | Remote Control 5 Input Selection Press the INPUT button on the ZVOX remote to select between the speaker's 4 inputs. The choices are: Optical digital - In1d HDMI input - Arc Analog minijack- In2A USB - USb 6 ZVOX AV855 | Input Selections Mute Press this button to mute the ZVOX speaker. When MUTE function is active, the display blinks "-00-". The AV855 will enter Standby if it is left in MUTE for longer than five minutes. Surround Settings There are three SURROUND levels: · Surround one ("Sd 1") has low virtual surround effect and strong vocals. Use this setting if vocal clarity is important to you. · Surround Two ("Sd 2") has moderate virtual surround effect and moderate vocals. This is the recommended setting for general TV programs. · Surround Three ("Sd 3") has strong virtual surround effect and moderate vocals. Many people prefer this setting when watching movies. Surround One ("Sd 1") Surround Two ("Sd 2") Surround Three ("Sd 3") AccuVoice Press the AccuVoice button to select the AccuVoice function. Additional presses of the AccuVoice button allow you to select increasing levels of voice enhancement. There are ten levels of AccuVoice enhancement, starting with AC 1 going up to AC10. The setting you select remains the default AccuVoice setting until you decide to change it. UP TO SuperVoice Setting For Extreme Voice Clarity To activate SuperVoice mode press and hold the AccuVoice button on the remote control for about four seconds. The display on the AV855 will the change for "AC 1" to "SP 1" indicating the speaker is in "SuperVoice 1" mode. Continue with quick presses to the AccuVoice button to select increasing levels of voice enhancement. There are ten levels of SuperVoice enhancement, starting with SP 1 going up to SP10. The setting you select remains the default AccuVoice setting until you decide to change it. To revert from SuperVoice mode back to AccuVoice mode, press and hold the AccuVoice button on the remote control for about four seconds.
