myTEM Radio RGBW Module MTRGB-100-WL
Product Description
The myTEM Radio RGBW module MTRGB-100-WL is a Z-Wave device designed for controlling and dimming 4-color LED strips. It supports Red, Green, Blue, and White color control, and can also achieve a warm white setting if the LED strip is compatible.
This module operates as a Light Dimmer Switch for use in Europe and Switzerland. It integrates into smart home systems, communicating wirelessly via Z-Wave. Instead of directly switching the load, it sends signals to a controller, such as the myTEM Smart Server or myTEM Radio Server, which then commands the module.
The module requires a 24 VDC power supply and can control 24 VDC RGBW LED strips or lamps. It is designed for installation in a control cabinet, mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail.
Safety Instructions
- Operate the device only as described in this manual.
- Do not operate if the device shows obvious damage.
- Do not alter, modify, or open the device.
- Intended for use in dry, dust-free indoor locations.
- Designed for installation in a control cabinet, not to be openly accessible after installation.
- WARNING: Hazard with risk of death or serious injury. Work must be done by trained personnel.
- CAUTION: Warning of possible damage to property.
- This device is not a toy; keep away from children and animals.

Installation
Installation Steps
- WARNING: Ensure the device is disconnected from the power supply before installation.
- CAUTION: Connect the myTEM Radio RGBW module as per the diagram.
- CAUTION: Use only stabilized 24 VDC power supplies. Higher voltages will damage the device.
- Turn on the power.
- Include (Add) the module into the Z-Wave network.
Important Notes
- Ensure the module and connected LED strips use the same voltage supply (24 VDC).
- To prevent power loss and luminosity decrease with long LED strips, use several short, parallel strips instead of one long serial strip. Connect LED strips with a maximum length of 10 m to the RGBW outputs.
- Refer to the respective LED strip manufacturer's instructions.
Module Overview and Connections
The myTEM Radio RGBW module (MTRGB-100-WL) features connection terminals for power and LED control, as well as a button for manual operation and inclusion/exclusion.
Connections:
- R: Connection for Red LED channel.
- G: Connection for Green LED channel.
- B: Connection for Blue LED channel.
- W: Connection for White LED channel.
- -24V: Negative terminal for 24 VDC power input and LED strip power.
- GND: Ground connection.
- +24V: Positive terminal for 24 VDC power input.
- Button / Taste (T): Manual control and Z-Wave inclusion/exclusion button.
- RF: Radio Frequency indicator (not a connection terminal).
LED Status Indicator:
- Add (Included): LED lights green for 1-2 seconds after power-up.
- Remove (Not Included): LED flashes red for 5-10 seconds after power-up.
Color and Dimming Settings
Color is set using the 'Color Switch' command class, and intensity (dimming) is controlled via the 'Multilevel Switch' command class.
CAUTION: Both color and intensity values must be set (not at 0) to turn on the LED strip.
Z-Wave Technology
Z-Wave is an international wireless protocol for smart home communication, ensuring reliable, two-way communication. Mains-powered Z-Wave devices act as repeaters, creating a meshed network for extended range.
Z-Wave products from different manufacturers are interoperable. This module supports secure communication (S2) using the 868.4 MHz frequency.

Inclusion/Exclusion (Add/Remove)
To add a device to a Z-Wave network, it must be in its factory default state. The process is initiated by the primary controller.
To include or exclude the device, press the button (T) four times in quick succession. The LED will flash green when the device is in Add mode.
- Add Status: LED lights briefly green upon completion.
- Remove Status: LED lights briefly red upon completion.
Reset to Factory Default
To reset the device, press the button (T) four times in quick succession. This removes all Z-Wave network settings.
Z-Wave Association
The Association Command Class manages connections between devices. Association Group 1 (Lifeline) reports device status and power-up events.
Association Group 1: Lifeline
Group ID | Profile / Name | Max. no of units | Command Class | Type / Event | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | General: NA / Lifeline | 5 | Notification Report | T: System (0x09) E: Heartbeat (0x05) | Reports to be alive (interval according to configuration) |
T: Power Management (0x08) E: Power has been applied (0x01) | Reports the device had a start-up (sent after each power-up only) |
Heartbeat and Power Management reports can be activated/deactivated via the Notification command class.
Z-Wave Configuration Parameter
Configuration settings can adapt the device's behavior. This module uses the following parameter:
Par# | Description | Unit | Min | Max | Default | Precision | R/W | Size |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Heartbeat rate | min | 1 | 1440 | 60 | 0 | r/w | 2 bytes |

Quick Troubleshooting
The following hints may help solve issues during network installation:
- Ensure new devices are in factory reset state upon power-up.
- Verify the controller and device operate on the same radio frequency if a connection cannot be established.
- If radio signals are weak (e.g., due to control cabinets), consider using an external antenna like the myTEM MTANT-100-WL.
- Remove unavailable devices from association groups to avoid command execution delays.
- Ensure sufficient mains-powered devices are present for effective meshing.
- Avoid polling "sleeping" battery-powered devices without a central controller.
- Do not poll battery-powered devices.
- Confirm that color and intensity values are set; otherwise, the LED strip will remain off.
