Reset Button

The UC-2100 panel computer features a reset button on the top panel. To reboot the computer, press the reset button for 1 second. To reset to factory default settings, press and hold the button for 7 to 9 seconds. During the reset process, the User LED (on UC-2104) will blink once per second. It becomes steady when the 7-9 second hold is complete. Releasing the button within this period loads the factory default settings.

Installing the Computer

Wall or Cabinet Mounting

Use two screws per side to mount the UC-2100 Series on a wall or inside a cabinet. [Diagram Description: Shows the UC-2100 unit with screw locations indicated on the sides for mounting.]

Wiring Requirements

Follow these common safety precautions before installing any electronic device:

  • Use separate paths for power and device wiring. If paths must cross, ensure wires are perpendicular at the intersection point.
  • NOTE: Do not run signal or communication wiring and power wiring in the same conduit. Route wires with different signal characteristics separately to avoid interference.
  • Separate wires based on their signal transmission type and electrical characteristics. Bundle wires with similar characteristics together.
  • Keep input and output wiring separate.
  • Label all wiring for easy identification.

⚠️ ATTENTION: This equipment is intended for use in Restricted Access Locations.

Safety First! Disconnect the power cord before installing or wiring your UC-2100 Series computers.

⚠️ Wiring Caution! Calculate the maximum possible current for each power and common wire. Adhere to electrical codes for maximum allowable current per wire size. Exceeding ratings can cause overheating and serious equipment damage.

⚠️ CAUTION: Handle the unit with care. Internal components generate heat when plugged in, making the outer casing feel warm.

Connecting the Power

Connect the 9 to 48 VDC power line to the terminal block. Upon proper power supply, the "Power" LED will glow solid green. The power input location and pin definition are shown in the adjacent diagram. The input terminal block (CN5) supports wire sizes from 12 to 30 AWG (3.3 to 0.05 mm²) and requires a torque of 0.5 N-m (4.425 lb-in). Input Rating: 9 to 48 VDC, 0.45 to 0.084 A.

[Diagram Description: Shows the power terminal block with V+, V-, and GND connections.]

Grounding the Unit

Grounding and proper wire routing help minimize noise from electromagnetic interference (EMI). Connect the ground wire from the terminal block connector to a grounding surface before connecting power. The product is designed for mounting on a well-grounded surface, such as a metal panel. The minimum cross-sectional area of the earthing conductor must equal the input wiring cable.

Connecting to the Console Port

The UC-2100 console port is a 4-pin pin-header RS-232 port on the right panel, used for serial console terminals. It is useful for viewing boot messages or debugging system startup issues. Remove the protective cover on the port to connect the console cable.
