PLT Color/Wattage Selectable LED Corn Bulb – 120-277V
Warning, Caution, Safety, and Installation Instructions
WARNING
- Installation, service, and maintenance of luminaries should be performed by a qualified licensed electrician.
CAUTION
- Do not use this LED lamp with an electric generator.
- This device is not intended for use with emergency exits.
- Added weight of this LED lamp may cause instability of a free-standing portable luminaire. Use only with a portable luminaire that utilizes a lens.
- Do not use this LED lamp in environments where smoke, sulfur, or corrosive substances are present. If being used in these environments, the lamp must be protected by an enclosed compartment with dimensions no less than the sizes listed in the chart below. The compartment lens should be glass, semi-glass, or semi-metallic, and should have no coverings on the surface, such as insulation, that could potentially block heat dissipation.
Enclosure Dimensions for Corrosive Environments
The following table specifies the minimum compartment dimensions required for protection in environments with smoke, sulfur, or corrosive substances.
| Maxim Power (W) | Volume (Inches) |
|---|---|
| 20 | 12.6x7.5x7.5 |
| 35 | 15.0x7.9x7.9 |
| 45 | 16.6x8.3x8.3 |
| 50 | 16.6x8.3x8.3 |
| 80 | 16.6x8.7x8.7 |
| 120 | 17.4x10.3x10.3 |
| 150 | 18.5x12.6x12.6 |
| 200 | 18.5x12.6x12.6 |
| 270 | 18.5x15.0x15.0 |
Installation Instructions
- Turn off power.
- Unscrew the existing CFL, metal halide, or high-pressure sodium bulb.
- Disconnect any ballast, capacitor, and ignitor if present. See Wiring Diagram section for more information.
- Screw in the LED corn lamp. (Refer to Figures 1, 2, or 3 for visual guidance).
- If a safety cable is provided, attach one end to the LED corn lamp and the other end to a nearby structural support. (Refer to Figure 3 for specific use on lamps ≥200W).
- For horizontal mounting, the 200-450W LED corn lamps are packaged with a support bracket to prevent the lamp and socket from sagging. Attach the bracket to the top end of the corn lamp with the provided screw. (Refer to Figure 4).
- Adjust the wattage and CCT to your desired setting using the two sliding switches found near the base of the lamp. See Adjustable CCT and Wattage section for more information.
- Turn the power back on.
Diagrams and Visual Aids
Figure Descriptions
- Figure 1, 2, 3: These figures illustrate the physical appearance of the LED corn lamp and potential connection points. Figure 3 specifically indicates that the safety cable attachment is for lamps with a power rating of 200W or greater.
- Figure 4: This figure shows the support bracket used for horizontal mounting of the 200-450W LED corn lamps, demonstrating how it attaches to the lamp and a structural support to prevent sagging.
Wiring Diagrams
The wiring diagrams illustrate how to replace traditional bulbs (CFL, MHL/HPS) with the LED corn lamp. They show the necessary disconnections of existing components like ballasts, capacitors, and ignitors.
- CFL Replacement: A schematic shows a CFL lamp connected to L (Line) and N (Neutral) terminals. The LED lamp replaces this, connecting directly to L and N, with no ballast or ignitor required.
- MHL / HPS Replacement: A more complex diagram shows a Metal Halide (MHL) or High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamp setup involving a ballast, ignitor, and capacitor. The LED corn lamp replaces the MHL/HPS lamp, and the ballast, ignitor, and capacitor are disconnected. The LED lamp connects directly to L and N.
CCT and Wattage Adjustable
The LED corn lamp features adjustable Color Temperature (CCT) and Wattage settings controlled by two sliding switches located near the base of the lamp.
- CCT SWITCH: Allows selection between 3000K (Warm White), 4000K (Cool White), and 5000K (Daylight).
- WATTAGE SELECTION SWITCH: This switch, in conjunction with the maximum rated wattage, allows for multiple lower wattage selections.
| Maximum Rated Wattage | Wattage Selections |
|---|---|
| 20W | 10W 15W 20W |
| 35W | 18W 26W 35W |
| 45W | 22W 33W 45W |
| 50W | 25W 38W 50W |
| 80W | 40W 60W 80W |
| 120W | 60W 90W 120W |
| 150W | 80W 120W 150W |
| 200W | 100W 150W 200W |
