Getting Started
This section covers the initial setup of your Honeywell Granit XP 1991i scanner. Ensure your computer is powered off before connecting the scanner. Once connected and powered on, place the scanner in its base to establish a link. The base's green LED will indicate charging status.
For detailed information on power supply assembly and charging, refer to the user guide available at sps.honeywell.com.
Connecting the Base
The scanner base can be connected to your computer via USB, Keyboard Wedge, or RS232 Serial Port. Each connection method has specific setup instructions detailed within the full user manual.
For USB connections, drivers may be required for Windows PCs. Apple Macintosh computers typically recognize the scanner as a USB CDC class device.
Reading Techniques
The Granit XP 1991i utilizes a viewfinder to project an aiming beam. Center this beam over the barcode for optimal scanning. The scanner provides audio feedback: three beeps indicate no link established, while a single beep signifies a successful link.
Different models (SR, XR, XLR) have distinct aiming patterns.
Configuration Options
This guide outlines various configuration options accessible by scanning specific barcodes. These include setting up USB serial or keyboard emulation, selecting keyboard country layouts (e.g., USA, France, Germany), and managing locked link modes for scanner security.
You can also configure trigger modes (Manual Trigger - Normal, Presentation Mode, Streaming Presentation) and manage suffixes (Add CR Suffix, Add Tab Suffix, Remove Suffix) and Code ID prefixes.
