Instruction Manual: Dishwasher Guide

This manual provides comprehensive guidance for the proper and safe use of your dishwasher. It covers installation, operation, cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

1. Safety and Operating Instructions

This manual is an integral part of the appliance and must be kept with it. Read all instructions carefully before use.

Installation: Must be performed by a qualified technician according to current regulations. The appliance is intended for domestic use and similar applications (e.g., staff kitchens, hotels). It complies with Directives 2006/95/EC and 2004/108/EC.

Purpose: Designed for washing and drying dishes only. Any other use is considered improper.

Name Plate: Located on the inner edge of the door, it contains technical data, serial number, and markings. Do not remove it.

Packaging: Dispose of packaging materials responsibly. Separate materials and take them to a collection center.

Electrical Safety: The appliance must be earthed. Failure to do so may result in damage to persons or property. Ensure floor openings are not obstructed if installed on carpeted floors.

General Precautions: Always switch off the dishwasher after use. In case of a fault, disconnect from power and shut off the water tap. Do not use steam cleaners.

Detergent Warning: Dishwasher detergents are strongly alkaline and dangerous if swallowed. Avoid skin/eye contact and keep children away when the door is open. Ensure the detergent receptacle is empty after the wash cycle.

Obsolete Appliances: Render unusable by cutting the power cord and making safe any dangerous components. Dispose of according to WEEE directive and local regulations.

Transit Damage: Do not use appliances damaged during transit. Consult your dealer if in doubt.

User Restrictions: Must be used by adults. Persons with reduced capabilities require supervision. Keep children away from detergents and packaging materials.

Solvents: Do not introduce solvents like alcohol or turpentine, as they may cause an explosion.

Dish Loading: Do not load dishes soiled with ash, wax, or paints.

Water Residues: Do not drink water residues left in dishes or the dishwasher.

Door Safety: Do not lean or sit on the open door, as it may overturn. Never leave the door open to prevent tripping hazards.

Cutlery: Place knives and sharp utensils blade-down in the cutlery basket or horizontally in the top basket. Ensure they do not protrude.

Aquastop Models: The Aquastop device prevents flooding. If tripped, contact a qualified technician. Do not cut the hose or allow the solenoid valve to drop into water.

Internal Lighting: Belongs to Risk Group 1 (IEC/EN 62471), meaning no photobiological risk under normal use.

Initial Test: Perform a quick test after installation. If issues arise, disconnect and call a service center. Do not attempt repairs yourself.

Compliance: Meets safety and electrical equipment regulations. Technical checks must be done by authorized technicians; unauthorized repairs void the warranty and pose a hazard.

The manufacturer is not responsible for damage resulting from failure to observe precautions, tampering, or use of non-original spare parts.

2. Installation and Hook-up

Remove polystyrene basket retainers. Position the dishwasher in the desired location. If near a heat source, use an insulating panel. For stability, screw integrated/built-under models to adjacent units. Ensure hoses are not kinked. Tighten locking ring-nuts. A hole of at least 8 cm diameter is needed for cables and pipes. Check for leaks after connecting the water tap. Level the appliance using adjustable feet for correct operation.

Important Restrictions:

  • Building-in under a hob is forbidden.
  • Do not install touching non-conventional appliances (e.g., fireplaces, stoves).
  • For free-standing models, installing a hob on top is forbidden.
  • If accessible on one side, the door hinge area must be covered for safety (covering fixtures available as accessories).
  • A special kit is required for built-in installation.

2.1 Water Supply Connection

Check water clarity before connecting to prevent clogging. Use new hoses only.

Connecting to Water Supply: Connect the intake hose to a cold water supply (3/4" gas thread) with the provided filter. Tighten firmly. Aquastop models have the filter pre-installed. Hot water supply (up to 60°C) is possible, reducing wash time but potentially effectiveness.

Drain Connection: Insert the drain hose into a drain pipe (min. 4 cm diameter) or kitchen sink using the provided support. Ensure the hose is not kinked or bent. The free end should be between 30-100 cm height and not submerged. For extension hoses (max 3m), the drain hose height can be up to 85 cm.

2.2 Electrical Connection and Precautions

Verify mains voltage and frequency match the appliance's rating plate. The plug and socket must be compatible and meet regulations. The plug must be accessible after installation. Never pull the lead to disconnect. For 45 cm models, ensure the cord bracket is secure after cord replacement. Do not use adaptors or shunt connections to prevent overheating.

Cord Damage: Have damaged cords replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized service center.

Live Components: Some components are live even when the ON/OFF button is off. Remove the plug or switch off at the wall before maintenance.

Plugless Supply Cord: Install an omnipolar circuit breaker (Overvoltage Protection Class III) in an accessible position. Connection to mains must be by a qualified technician.

Great Britain Specifics: The appliance must be earthed. Fuse replacement requires a BS 1362 fuse. Ensure the fuse cover is refitted correctly.

4. Operating Instructions

Prepare for use by adjusting the water softening system, adding salt, and adding rinse aid and detergent.

4.1 Using the Water Softening System

Scale can cause whitish staining. The dishwasher has an automatic softening system using regenerating salt. Factory setting is water hardness level 3.

Salt: Refill salt container approximately every 20 cycles. Capacity is 1.7 Kg. Some models have an optical indicator. Add salt using the funnel, ensuring the cap is securely closed. For first use, add one litre of water. Use only dishwasher-specific regenerating salt. Do not use table salt.

Adjusting Water Softening: The setting can be varied based on water hardness. Access setting by holding the PROGRAM SELECTION button for over 15 seconds. Indicator lights show the current setting.

Water Hardness Table: Details settings based on German (°dH) and French (°dF) degrees, showing indicator light status.

4.2 Using the Rinse Aid and Detergent Dispensers

Dispensers are on the inner door. Add detergent before each cycle (except Soak). Add rinse aid as needed.

Adding Rinse Aid: Open door, remove cap, fill container (approx. 140 cc). Optical indicator shows level. Refill when indicator is clear or warning light is on. Replace cap. Clean spills.

Adjusting Rinse Aid Dispenser: Factory set for medium hardness. Adjust selector for desired rinse aid amount. Increase if dishes are dull/stained; reduce if sticky/streaky.

Adding Detergent: Press button P to open dispenser. Add detergent and close. Dispenser opens automatically during wash. For hot prewash programs, add extra detergent to cavity G/H. Use only dishwasher-specific detergents. Store packs dry. Do not use hand-dishwashing detergents. Add the correct amount; insufficient detergent leads to poor cleaning, excessive is wasteful.

Detergent Types: Phosphates effective at >60°C; enzyme detergents effective at lower temperatures (40-55°C) and are biodegradable. Recommend phosphate- and chlorine-free detergents.

Detergent in Rinse Aid Dispenser: Will damage the dishwasher.

4.3 General Warnings and Recommendations

Read recommendations for dish types and loading before first use. Remove coarse food remains. Soak burnt-on food. Do not pre-wash dishes under running water.

Loading Precautions: Ensure dishes are secure. Do not place small objects that could fall. Load containers with openings facing down. Do not stack dishes or place them so they cover each other. Avoid placing glasses too close.

Dishwasher-Safe Items: Ensure items are dishwasher-safe. Items not recommended include wooden dishes, handcrafted items, some plastics, copper, tin, zinc, brass, anodised aluminium, silver, and some decorated items.

4.4 Using the Baskets

The dishwasher has a capacity of 12 place-settings.

Lower Basket: For tougher items with heavier soiling. Arrange with soiled surfaces exposed to water jets. Tip-up supports for plates are available on some models.

Bottom Basket Inserts: Improve drying; fit as shown.

Loading Lower Basket: Load plates vertically, pots/pans upside down. Leave gaps between soup plates/bowls.

Cutlery Basket: Has removable top grids for spacing. Arrange cutlery with handles down. Avoid knife blade injury. Ladles, wooden spoons, and cooking knives can go in the upper basket.

Upper Basket: For small/medium items like glasses, small plates, cups, shallow bowls, and heat-resistant plastic items. Can also hold serving dishes if slightly soiled when in the lowermost position.

Loading Upper Basket: Load plates facing forward, cups/bowls facing down. Left side for cups/glasses on two levels. Center section for plates/saucers vertically.

Basket Accessories: Supports for cups/long objects, long-stemmed glass holder, cutlery racks, fixed/movable racks.

Adjusting the Upper Basket: Height can be adjusted (Type A or B) to accommodate larger items in the bottom basket. Ensure both sides are at the same height.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Unplug the appliance before any work.

5.1 General Warnings: Avoid acidic or abrasive detergents. Clean outer surfaces and door lining with a soft cloth. Clean door gaskets with a damp sponge. Periodically clean the tank and gaskets.
