EDISION EDI-RCU 3 Learn OS: Learn Remote Control Manual

Introduction

The EDISION EDI-RCU 3 Learn OS Remote Control is compatible with all EDISION STBs. It comes pre-programmed with 5 basic functions for SAMSUNG and LG TV sets. Users can also program these 5 dedicated buttons to control any 5 functions of their own TV.

LG and SAMSUNG are brand names belonging to LG Electronics Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., respectively. References to these brands are for informational purposes for consumers interested in the product. It is noted that a small percentage of SAMSUNG & LG TV models or their functions may not be fully supported or supported at all. If this occurs, please contact EDISION.

Programmable Keys

The remote control features 5 learning-function keys located in the upper right-hand side TV keypad panel area. These keys can be programmed for the following functions:

• Turning your TV set ON/OFF [TV POWER]
• Selecting screen aspect ratio [RATIO: Auto, 16:9, 4:3, etc.]
• Increasing/decreasing volume [VOL+, VOL-]
• Command confirmation [BACK or EXIT]

The remaining 48 keys are dedicated to controlling the EDISION set-top-box.

Setting Up the Learning Function

Follow these steps to program a function from your original TV remote:

1. Press and hold the [TV POWER] key on the upper right-hand side TV keypad panel area for 5 seconds continuously. The LED indicator will light up and remain lit, indicating the remote is in learning mode. Release the key.
2. Within 10 seconds, press the desired key on your original TV remote control that you wish to learn (e.g., the [POWER] key). The red LED on the EDI-RCU 3 will start flashing, signifying it's ready to receive the learning signal.
3. Aim the emission port (IR emitter) of your original TV remote control directly at the emission port of the EDI-RCU 3 Learn OS remote control. Maintain a distance of approximately 2-3 cm between the two remotes.
4. Press and hold the key you want to learn on your original TV remote control (e.g., [POWER]) for approximately 3 seconds.
5. If the EDI-RCU 3's red LED flashes quickly three times and then remains lit, the learning procedure for that button has been successful.
6. Release the key on your original TV remote control.

If the copying procedure fails, the red LED will blink and then turn off. In this case, please repeat the procedure.

To program the next function, repeat steps 1 to 3 for the desired function, such as:

• Selecting screen ratio [RATIO: Auto, 16:9, 4:3, etc.]
• Adjusting volume [VOL+, VOL-]
• Command confirmation [BACK or EXIT]

Once programmed, you can operate your TV using these 5 keys on the EDISION remote. The LED will flash during operation to indicate that a signal is being transmitted.

Remarks

• If no signal is received within 10 seconds during the copying process, the device will automatically exit learning mode.
• Please note that only the 5 keys in the upper right-hand side TV keypad panel area are for TV control. The remaining 48 keys are for controlling your EDISION set-top-box.
• During the learning process, if the red LED on the new remote control flashes three times and then stays lit for 5 seconds, it indicates that the remote is ready to learn the next key.
• The 5 learning keys are capable of learning signals from remote controls of various TV brands.
• While most TV remotes can be learned, compatibility is not guaranteed for all models. If you encounter any issues, please contact the shop where you purchased the product for assistance.
