Hold the upper back of your smartphone near the Wemo Smart Plug and follow the prompts that appear on your screen. You may need to adjust the angle slightly for the connection to work. Ensure your smartphone is unlocked.

Troubleshooting Setup Prompts
If you don't see setup prompts:
- Add (+) a new accessory in the Apple Home app.
- Manually enter the 8-digit HomeKit setup code found at the end of this guide.
Control
Total Control with Apple Home
Use the Apple Home app to turn your Wemo Smart Plug on and off, set schedules, share control with others, and create custom groups and scenes. You can also tap the power button on the plug itself to physically turn it on and off.
Use Voice Control with Siri
Name your Wemo Smart Plug in the Apple Home app so you can easily refer to it. Then, ask Siri ?️ on your iPhone, iPad, or HomePod to turn your Wemo on or off.
Phone-Free Scene Control
Control up to 6 scenes with the Wemo Scene Controller (sold separately). Press one button for a "Goodnight" scene that turns off all smart lights. Press another button for a "Goodbye" scene that turns on the Wi-Fi security system.
Remote Control While Away From Home
To control your Wemo Smart Plug remotely when you are away from home, you must have a HomePod, Apple TV (4K or HD with latest tvOS), or iPad (with latest iOS) set up as a home hub.

Thread for Quicker and More Reliable Control
Thread ? is a new wireless technology built into the Wemo Smart Plug. It connects smart home devices more quickly and reliably than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
To take full advantage of Thread, you will need an Apple HomePod mini or the latest Apple TV 4K. If you do not have these devices, your Wemo Smart Plug will connect using Bluetooth.
Restart and Restore
Restart
If you encounter setup or control issues, try restarting your Wemo Smart Plug by unplugging it from the wall outlet and plugging it back in. ?

Factory Restore
If a restart does not resolve the issue, you can perform a factory restore:
- Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
- Release the button when the indicator light blinks white.
- Follow the setup steps in the Apple Home app to re-add your Wemo Smart Plug.
Indicator Light Guide
The color and behavior of the indicator light on your Wemo Smart Plug provide information about its status:
- Off: Your Wemo is off and working properly.
- Solid White: Setup is successful and your Wemo is on.
- White and Orange (alternating): Your Wemo is ready for setup.
- Fast Blinking Orange (about 4 times per second): Your Wemo is overheating. The device has automatically turned off to cool down. Unplug the device, wait 1 minute, and then plug it back in.
HomeKit Setup Code
Keep this code in case you need it later for setup or re-adding your device.
