Operation
Inserting/Replacing Battery
Remove the battery cover. Insert the 9 V alkaline battery, observing correct polarity. Replace the battery cover. Remove batteries if the product is not used for a long time to avoid corrosion and depletion.
Start Operation
Protect the instrument from moisture and direct sunlight. Ensure the sensor area is dry before switching on. If the instrument was subject to extreme temperature changes, allow it to acclimatize. To switch on, press and hold [Button 7] for 2 seconds. The instrument will automatically enter metal detection mode. If a sound signal is emitted and the red light indicator blinks, calibration is required: place the instrument in an environment free from metal and strong magnetic fields (e.g., hold it in the air), then press and hold [Button 7] until the green light indicator is on and a beep is heard. Calibration is finished. To switch off, press and hold [Button 7] for 2 seconds. The product will automatically shut off after 5 minutes of inactivity to save battery power.
Operating Modes
The instrument detects objects using the sensor area.
Detection of Metal Objects
Press [Button 4] to activate metal detection mode. The [Metal Mode] icon will appear on the display, and the green light indicator will be on. Move the instrument sideways across the surface. As it approaches a metal object, the detected object approximation degree (0-100%) increases, the light indicator turns yellow, then red, and a sound signal is emitted. As it moves away, the degree decreases, the light turns yellow then green, and the sound stops. If a metal object is directly below the sensor center, the [Center Indicator] and the metal detection depth (in cm) will be displayed. The accuracy of depth depends on object shape and location. For ferrous metals (e.g., steel), the [Ferrous Metal] icon (U) appears. For non-ferrous metals (e.g., copper), the [Non-ferrous Metal] icon (Copper) appears.
Detection of Wooden Objects
Press [Button 3] to activate wood detection mode. Place the instrument on an even surface, press and hold [Button 3] until the light indicator turns green (calibration finished). Move the instrument across the surface. As it approaches a wooden object, the detected object approximation degree (0-100%) increases, the light indicator turns yellow, then red, and a sound signal is emitted. As it moves away, the degree decreases, the light turns yellow then green, and the sound stops. If a wooden object is directly below the sensor center, the [Center Indicator] appears. Caution: If a wooden object is coincidentally located, the light indicator may turn red and emit a sound signal. In such cases, reposition the instrument and scan again.
Detection of Live Wires
Press [Button 5] to activate live wires detection mode. If a sound signal is emitted and the red light indicator blinks, perform calibration as described for metal detection. The instrument can detect live AC wires/conductors (40-60 Hz). Other wires are detected as metal objects. The [Live Wire Mode] icon (⚡) appears when a live wire is detected. Move the instrument repeatedly to pinpoint the wire. A red light indicator and sound signal indicate proximity (100% approximation). Static electricity can cause inaccurate results; place a free hand on the wall next to the instrument to mitigate its effect.
Digital Vial
Press [Button 6] to activate the digital vial function. Readings are shown on the display. Press [Button 7] to exit.
Switch On/Off Sound Signal
Press and hold [Button 6] to toggle the sound signal. The [Sound signal indicator] (?) appears on the display when the sound is on.
Recommendations for Use
Measurement accuracy can be affected by ambient conditions such as proximity to equipment producing strong magnetic/electromagnetic fields, moisture, metallic building materials, foil-laminated insulation, or conductive wallpaper. Consult additional information sources (e.g., construction plans) before drilling, sawing, or routing into walls, ceilings, or floors.
Care and Maintenance
- Wipe away debris or contamination with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents.
- To avoid affecting measurement function, do not place decals, stickers, or name plates (especially metal ones) on the sensor area.
- Store and transport the instrument only in the supplied protective case.
Warranty
The warranty period is 12 months from the date of sale. It covers all costs for repair or replacement of the device, excluding transportation costs to the service center. The warranty does not cover damages from misuse, unauthorized repair, blows, falls, or issues with batteries and accessories. Calibration expenses after repair are paid separately. CONDTROL is not responsible for loss of profits or inconvenience due to instrument defects, or costs for alternative equipment lease during repair. Instrument service life is 36 months.
