16mm C-Mount Lens Installation and Adjustment Guide

16 mm C-mount Lens

The 16 mm lens offers superior image quality compared to the 6 mm lens. Its narrow field of view makes it ideal for capturing distant subjects.

Visual Description: A compact, cylindrical lens with a blue ring near the front and markings on the barrel. It features a C-mount thread at the rear.

Fitting the C-CS Adapter

Ensure the C-CS adapter, supplied with the High Quality Camera, is attached to the lens. The lens features a C-mount, which has a longer back focus than the 6 mm lens, necessitating the use of this adapter.

Visual Description: An illustration shows a C-CS adapter ring being placed onto the rear of the C-mount lens. The adapter is a short, black ring with threads.

Fitting the Lens to the Camera

Rotate the lens and C-CS adapter clockwise ▶️ until they are fully seated against the back focus adjustment ring.

Visual Description: A diagram illustrates the lens, with the C-CS adapter attached, being screwed clockwise into the camera's lens mount. An arrow indicates the direction of rotation.

Back Focus Adjustment Ring and Lock Screw

The back focus adjustment ring should be screwed in completely. Utilize the back focus lock screw to secure the ring in place, preventing it from shifting during aperture or focus adjustments.

Visual Description: A close-up view of the lens mounted on the camera. The back focus ring is shown, with a small screw on its side. An arrow indicates the lock screw being tightened.

Aperture Adjustment

To adjust the aperture, hold the camera steady with the lens facing away from you. Rotate the inner ring, located closest to the camera. Turning clockwise ▶️ closes the aperture, reducing image brightness. Turning anti-clockwise ◀️ opens the aperture. Once the desired light level is achieved, tighten the side screw on the lens to lock the aperture setting.

The lens barrel displays aperture values such as 1:1.4, 2.8, 5.6, 8, 16.

Visual Description: An illustration shows the lens barrel with an adjustable ring. The ring has markings indicating aperture values. Arrows show the ring being rotated. A small screw is visible on the side of the lens barrel.

Focus Adjustment

To adjust the focus, hold the camera with the lens facing away from you. Turn the focus ring, marked "NEAR FAR". Rotate anti-clockwise ◀️ to focus on nearby objects, and clockwise ▶️ to focus on distant objects. It may be necessary to readjust the aperture after setting the focus.

Visual Description: A close-up of the lens barrel showing a focus ring labeled "NEAR FAR". Arrows indicate rotation for focusing on near and far objects. Aperture value markings are also visible on the lens.
