Getting Started

Step 1: Unboxing and Leg Assembly

Open the packaging and remove the three legs. The legs are marked with labels to indicate their correct placement. It is recommended to keep the speaker in its packaging while mounting the legs.

Step 2: Power Connection

Place the speaker in the desired location. Remove the cover of the connection panel and connect the power cable. Wait one or two minutes for the indicator light to blink and a beep to sound.

Download the Bang & Olufsen App

To set up your product and get the most out of your Bang & Olufsen experience, download the Bang & Olufsen app. The app allows you to personalize your experience, access new features, and get product support.

When you open the Bang & Olufsen app, you will be prompted to create a user account. Once logged in, tap '+' to set up your new speaker.

Active Room Compensation

Beosound A9 features Active Room Compensation. This is a feature that optimizes sound performance based on the speaker's placement in the room. It should be reactivated via the app if the speaker is moved to a different location in the space.

Software Update

By default, Beosound A9 is set up for automatic software updates. Updates are carried out at night if the speaker is connected to the mains and the internet. Bang & Olufsen recommends keeping this setting active to ensure your speaker always has the latest features and improvements. The setting can be changed in the Bang & Olufsen app.

Daily Use

On the top rear of the Beosound A9 speaker, you will find a row of touch-sensitive controls. The description of daily use is based on standing in front of the speaker.

Start Playback

Open the Bang & Olufsen app to start streaming media to the speaker, or use your preferred streaming service.

Play/Pause

Tap once to play the last linked source. Tap again to pause.

Volume Control

Swipe your hand to the right to gradually increase the volume, and swipe once to the left to decrease the volume.

Next/Previous Track

Tap the right side to play the next track/station, and tap the left side to play the previous track/station.

Pause/Standby

If the speaker is inactive for three minutes, it automatically enters standby mode. To resume music playback, open the Bang & Olufsen app and select a source for playback. Alternatively, tap the center of the touch-sensitive dots to start playback of the last linked source.

Multiroom

Use the Bang & Olufsen app to add compatible speakers, create a Beolink Multiroom group, and play your music simultaneously in different rooms. Alternatively, stream to more speakers using Chromecast or AirPlay 2.

Join an ongoing Beolink Multiroom experience by holding your hand for 2 seconds on the center of the top dots on the rear of the speaker, until you hear a beep.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone.

Press and hold the right side (“Next”) to activate Bluetooth pairing mode. The indicator light will blink blue, and you will hear a beep. Select the nickname you chose for the speaker during initial setup, or search for it. Connect to “Beosound A9 5th Generation” on your smartphone, and you’re ready to play any audio content played on your device.

Stereo Setup

You can set up the Beosound A9 speakers as stereo speakers, playing either the left or right channel. You will need two Beosound A9 speakers of the same generation.

After you have carried out the first-time setup for each speaker, select Stereo Pairing in the Bang & Olufsen app under Sound Settings. Follow the on-screen instructions and await audible feedback. Once stereo pairing is carried out, the two speakers merge into one.

Stereo Setup via Google Home

Some routers may not fully support the previous stereo connection. For this, Bang & Olufsen recommends setting up the speakers via Google Home. After setup, access the sound settings of one of the speakers and select Stereo Setup. The speakers will then appear via Chromecast for playback through Bluetooth or AUX.
