- Supports IEEE 802.11 Wireless Stations (802.11n, 802.11b, 802.11g at 2.4GHz).
- Wired and Wireless Network Support.
- Security Support: Full WEP (64/128 Bit), WPA and WPA2 standards are supported for wireless interface.
Chapter 2: Basic Setup
System Requirement
The Iris™™ camera requires the Iris™™ smart hub for operation. For wireless use, other wireless devices must be compliant with IEEE802.11b, IEEE802.11g, or IEEE 802.11n specifications. Your wireless router must use compatible settings.
Front Panel
- Lens: Ensure the lens cover remains clean for optimal image quality.
- Microphone: The built-in microphone is mounted on the front.
- Network LED:
- On (Green): Network (Wireless or LAN) connection available.
- Off: Wireless or LAN not connected or camera not sending/receiving data.
- Blinking (Green): Data being transmitted or received via LAN or Wireless connection.
- Motion Sensor: Passive infrared sensor (PIR) detects motion in front of the camera.
- Day/Night Sensor: Detects lighting levels, automatically switching the camera to black-and-white mode and illuminating IR LEDs in low light conditions.
- Infrared (IR) LEDs: These nearly invisible lights illuminate the image in low light conditions for better recording.
Rear Panel
- Antenna: Adjustable for best reception. Positioning vertically is usually optimal.
- Power Port: Connect the supplied 12V power adapter here. Do not use other adapters.
- Reset Button: Press and hold for over 10 seconds to reset network settings to default. Requires a paper clip to depress. The Network LED will blink orange during reset and turn off when complete. Note: Remove the camera from your Iris™™ device list before resetting.
- LAN Port: Connect the supplied Ethernet cable here for initial configuration. A water sealing LAN port cover should be installed after configuration. Plugging in the Ethernet cable disables the Wireless interface; only one interface can be active. Connect or disconnect the Ethernet cable only when the camera is powered OFF.
- Speaker: The built-in speaker is mounted on the back.
Setup the Camera
Step 1: Attach the Antenna
- Attach both antennas to the Outdoor Camera by turning clockwise.
- Position the antennas upright to improve wireless reception.
Step 2: Connect Ethernet Cable to the Outdoor Camera
- Plug the Ethernet cable with the water sealing cap into the back of the camera.
- Secure the water sealing cap to create a water-tight seal.
- Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an available LAN port on your router. Note: Wired Ethernet is required for initial Iris configuration. After wireless configuration via the Iris website, the Ethernet cable can be removed.
Step 3: Power on the Outdoor Camera
- Plug the Power Adapter into the back of the camera.
- Secure the water sealing cap.
- Plug the Power Adapter into a power outlet. Note: An extension cable may be needed if the supplied cable is too short.
Step 4: Connect to Iris™™
Adding your Iris™™ camera to an existing Iris™™ system:
- Set up your camera as described above.
- Log into your Iris™™ dashboard at lowes.com/iris and click the devices link.
- Select add devices.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add your camera.
Adding your Iris™™ camera to a new Iris™™ system:
- Set up your camera as described above.
- Follow the installation process in your Iris™™ quick start guide.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add your camera.
Step 5: Configure Wireless Settings (optional)
To enable wireless operation:
- Use the Iris dashboard at lowes.com/iris to confirm the camera is paired and streaming video.
- Click the Devices link and select the Outdoor Camera.
- Complete the wireless settings information. Wait 5 minutes for configuration and restart.
- Remove the Ethernet Cable and Power Adapter, relocate the camera, reconnect the Power Adapter. The camera will operate wirelessly. Allow 5 minutes for configuration and connection.
Mounting the Outdoor Camera
Note: Ensure the camera is configured and added to the network before permanent mounting.
Note: Before permanent installation, test the camera's functionality in its final location using the Iris website or mobile app to stream live video.
Tips for Best Outdoor Camera Placement
- Avoid facing the camera directly into the sunrise (east) and sunset (west).
- Aim the camera with a slight downward angle.
- Avoid aiming the camera towards bright nighttime objects like streetlights or headlights.
- Consider shadows that may cause false motion triggers.
- Avoid positioning near objects that move on windy days to prevent false motion triggers.
- Avoid mounting in direct sunlight, as the passive infrared sensor (PIR) performs best at cooler temperatures.
Step 1: Install the base
- Hold the base on the wall at the desired location.
- Screw the three mounting screws through the base into the wall.
Step 2: Attach the stand and swivel connector together
- Ensure the stand and swivel are secure before proceeding.
Step 3: Attach the stand and swivel connector to the base by turning clockwise
Step 4: Attach the Outdoor Camera to the swivel connector by turning it clockwise
Step 5: Finalize the Outdoor Camera's Mount
- Make sure the Outdoor Camera is firmly fixed on the wall.
- Adjust the Outdoor Camera to the preferred position.
