Pioneer SPH-EVO950DAB Installation Guide for Fiat Ducato X290
This guide provides instructions for installing the Pioneer SPH-EVO950DAB car audio head unit into Fiat Ducato X290 models manufactured from model year 2014 onwards, specifically for vehicles with an open dash configuration.

Preparation and Dashboard Modification
Step 1: Original Dashboard Setup
Begin by removing the storage pockets from the original Fiat Ducato dashboard to access the installation area.
Step 2: Locate Support Bars
Identify the two horizontal support bars located on the left and right sides within the dashboard cavity.
Step 3: Cut Support Bars
Carefully cut these support bars so they are flush with the surrounding dashboard structure. This creates space for the new head unit and its mounting bracket.
Step 4: Dashboard After Cutting
The dashboard cavity is now prepared after the support bars have been cut, ready for the installation bracket.
Bracket Installation
Step 5: Slide Installation Bracket
Insert the provided installation bracket into the dashboard cavity. Ensure the bottom side of the bracket is oriented towards you as you slide it in.
Step 6: Ensure Bracket Depth
Verify that the bracket is seated deeply enough within the dashboard. The image shows the correct depth for secure mounting.
Step 7: Tilt Bracket
Tilt the top of the bracket upwards to a 90-degree angle relative to its initial position.
Step 8: Secure Bracket
Fasten the bracket securely to the dashboard at the four indicated mounting points.
Wiring Connections
The following connections are required. Refer to the diagram for wire identification:
- 1. Vehicle Main ISO Cable: Connect to the vehicle's primary wiring harness.
- 2. Wired Input for Optional Remote: For accessories like the CD-ME300 remote control.
- 3. Steering Wheel Control Input: Connect this to the backside of the Pioneer head unit.
- 4. Violet/White Wire (Reverse Gear Input): Connect this wire for reverse camera functionality.
- Red Wire: Optional 12v ACC (Accessory) power supply.
- Black Wire: Optional GND (Ground) connection.
- 5. Pioneer Head Unit Main Power Connector: Connects the head unit to its primary power source.
- 6. Remote Output: For connecting an optional external amplifier.
- 7. Speed Pulse Wire: Connect this wire for speed-dependent functions.
Fuse Box Connections
Step 9: Open Fuse Box
Access the fuse box located within the dashboard, underneath the steering wheel.
Step 10: Locate Connectors
Identify the specific black and green connectors within the fuse box as indicated in the diagram.
Step 11: Open Green Connector and Slide Cables
Open the green connector and carefully slide out the necessary cables to make connections.
Step 12: Connect Reverse Signal
Connect the violet/white cable (reverse signal) to the cable located in pin four of the green connector.
Step 13: Open Black Connector and Slide Cables
Open the black connector and slide out the necessary cables.
Step 14: Insert Speed Pulse Pin
Insert the pink cable pin, which carries the speed pulse signal, into the open position fifty-six (56) of the black connector.
Final Installation and Unit Mounting
Step 15: Connect All Cables
Connect all remaining cables in the dashboard cavity, including those for FM and DAB reception, using the provided connectors.
Step 16: Insert Head Unit
Carefully insert the Pioneer head unit into the installed dashboard mount. Push it in until you hear an audible click, indicating it has locked securely into place.
Step 17: Finished Installation
The installation is now complete. The Pioneer SPH-EVO950DAB unit is fully integrated into the Fiat Ducato dashboard, displaying its user interface. The interface may show labels in Italian, such as "Telefono" (Phone), "Musica" (Music), "Mappe" (Maps), "Messaggi" (Messages), "In ascolto" (Listening), "AV" (Audio/Video), "Podcast", and "Audiolibri" (Audiobooks).
Unit Removal for Service
To remove the head unit for service purposes:
- First, remove the air vents surrounding the unit.
- Then, locate the clip system that secures the unit.
- Push this clip system using a flat-head screwdriver to release the head unit from the dashboard mount.
