Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key: Setup and Usage Guide

Tips: Registering the Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key

We use webauthn.io to test the functionality of your FIDO2 Key.

  1. To secure your online accounts, such as Google, open the latest version of Chrome and navigate to the privacy and security settings for your Google account (not Chrome settings).
  2. Enable 2nd Factor Authentication and select the security key as the second factor. Add the Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key to your account.

Please note that the specific steps and terminology may vary slightly depending on the online account you are using (e.g., Google, Facebook, Twitter, Github).

For Windows Hello Login

Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key compatibility with Windows Hello Login requires specific conditions:

  1. The computer must be part of an enterprise Microsoft Azure Active Directory to use Windows Hello Login.
  2. Personal computers cannot utilize the FIDO2 Security Key for logging into Windows.

Working with iOS Devices

Consider the following information regarding the Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key when using iOS devices:

  1. The Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key is compatible with iPhones running iOS 13.3 and later with Safari, and it can be used via NFC (Near Field Communication).
  2. It's important to note that all iPads and iPhones prior to the iPhone XS do not have NFC capabilities. Therefore, you must have an iPhone XS or a later model to use the Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key.
  3. To protect your Apple ID, Apple now requires iPhone users to have iOS 16.4 or later. Please ensure your iPhone is updated to at least iOS 16.4 to comply with Apple's requirements for Apple ID security.

To Utilize NFC on an iPhone

Follow these instructions to use NFC on an iPhone:

  1. For iPhone users, the NFC feature is located on the top backside of the iPhone, near the camera.
  2. Ensure that both USB connectors of the Thetis Pro FIDO2 Security Key are unfolded to form a T shape. This arrangement ensures that the metal shield does not interfere with the NFC signal when using the key with your iPhone.

For Coinbase

Coinbase supports FIDO2 Keys for authentication. However, they have an additional requirement where the browser needs to read the key's information, which is not necessary according to the FIDO2 standard. To address this requirement, a solution has been developed that enables FIDO2 Keys to work with Coinbase. The process has been documented and published on the Thetis website and YouTube channel.

Screenshot Description: A screenshot displays a web interface featuring Thetis and Microsoft Azure branding. It includes navigation links for Products, FAQ, Compatibility, Instruction, Enterprise, Support, and Buy. A section titled "**Coinbase Set Up Helpful Notes:**" provides guidance on overriding Chrome settings. This can be done by running Chrome as Administrator with the command line flag: `--disable-features-WebAuthenticationUseNativeWinApi`. Alternatively, users can create a blank text file, paste specific commands (including changing directory to Chrome's application folder and executing the flag), and save it as a `.bat` file. The document notes that the default Chrome installation path is typically "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application" and advises users to adjust this if their installation differs. It also mentions the availability of a "Root CA Cert".

Our key has no storage. No matter PC or Mac recognizes the key as an HID device.
