Temperature Icon
When the camera overheats and needs to cool down, the temperature icon will appear on the camera status screen. Simply let the camera rest until it cools down, then try using it again. The camera is designed to detect overheating and take appropriate action.
22. Camera Housing Doors
You can swap the back doors of your HERO+ LCD camera depending on your activity and shooting conditions.
To swap housing doors:
- Open the protective housing's back door, allowing it to hang open.
- Firmly pull the current back door backward until it detaches from the housing body.
- Align the new back door with the hinge openings and insert it.
- Push the back door upward until it clicks into place.
PRO TIP: When using the camera in rain or water, apply Rain-X® or a similar water-repellent solution to the camera housing's lens to prevent water beads from forming.
23. Using Mounts
To mount your HERO+ LCD camera, you will need a quick-release buckle and/or thumb screws (depending on the mount you are using). For more information on mounts, visit gopro.com.
Attaching Mounts
Use the quick-release buckle and thumb screws to attach the camera housing to various mounts.
Curved and Flat Adhesive Mounts
Curved and flat adhesive mounts allow you to easily attach your camera to helmets, vehicles, and other surfaces. Use the quick-release buckle to attach and detach the camera housing with a simple click.
Mounting Guide
Follow these instructions to install your mounts:
- Adhesive mounts should be applied at least 24 hours before use. Wait 72 hours for the adhesive to fully bond.
- Adhesive mounts can only be applied to smooth surfaces. Porous or textured surfaces may not adhere properly. Apply firm pressure to the mount once in place to ensure it is securely bonded to the surface.
- Adhesive mounts can only be applied to clean surfaces. Wax, oils, dust, or other debris can reduce adhesion and affect the mount's security, potentially causing the camera to be lost.
- Apply adhesive mounts in a room temperature environment. If you apply a mount in cold or humid conditions, or to a cold or damp surface, the adhesive may not bond properly.
For more information on mounts, visit gopro.com.
Warning: When using GoPro helmet mounts or head mounts, always use a helmet that meets safety standards. Choose a helmet appropriate for your specific sport or activity and ensure it fits properly. Check your helmet for good condition and follow the helmet manufacturer's safety instructions. Replace any helmet that has sustained a strong impact. No helmet can guarantee your safety in every accident.
24. Fixing the Mount
If you plan to use the HERO+ LCD for sports like surfing or skiing, use the locking pin to securely lock the buckle claws of the quick-release buckle.
To install the locking pin:
- Slide the circular retainer onto the thumb screw. The retainer prevents the locking pin from falling off or getting lost, similar to a belt.
- Slide the quick-release buckle into the quick-release buckle mount on the base until it clicks into place.
- Insert the U-shaped end of the pin into the U-shaped slot on the quick-release buckle.
Warning: To avoid injury in case of an accident, do not use locking pins or tethers on helmets or other personal protective equipment when using mounting accessories.
25. Battery
The HERO+ LCD camera, battery, and housing are an integrated unit. You cannot remove the camera from its housing or the battery from the camera.
The battery icon on the camera status screen will flash when the battery level drops below 10%. If the power drops to 0% during recording, the camera will save the file and turn off.
Extending Battery Life
To extend battery life, turn off the GoPro App or Wi-Fi. To extend battery life during long recording sessions, turn off the touch screen. Extremely cold temperatures can temporarily reduce battery performance. To extend battery life in cold conditions, warm the camera before use.
PRO TIP: QuikCapture helps maximize battery life. For more information, see QuikCapture (page 45).
26. Troubleshooting
My GoPro Won't Turn On
Ensure your GoPro is charged. To charge your camera, connect the included USB cable to your computer. You can also use a GoPro wall charger or car charger.
GoPro is Unresponsive
Press and hold the Power/Mode button for 8 seconds to reset the camera. This saves all your content and settings and turns off the camera.
Choppy Playback
Choppy playback is usually not a file issue. If your video is stuttering, it may be due to one of the following:
- Using an incompatible video player. Not all video players support the H.264 codec. For best playback, download and use the free GoPro Studio software from gopro.com/getstarted.
- Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for high-definition playback. The higher the video resolution and frame rate, the more resources your computer needs for playback. If you are playing files using GoPro Studio software, ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. You can find these requirements at gopro.com/getstarted.
- Playing high-bitrate, high-resolution video files over a USB connection with low bandwidth. Transfer files to your computer for playback.
If your computer does not meet the minimum requirements, ensure all other programs on your computer are closed.
