Google Home Quick Start Guide

by SMART HOME COLLECTION by BUDGET BLINDS

GETTING STARTED:

Before connecting to Google Home, please ensure the Smart Home Collection PRO Hub and motorized shades have been setup and are working from within the Smart Home Collection App.

You will also need a Matter-compatible, Google Home hub/smart speaker already linked to your Google Home account.

To control shades with Google Home, you will need the following:

  • Smart Home Collection PRO Hub that has been set up.
  • Working shades within the Smart Home Collection App.
  • Google Home App and Google account.
  • A Matter-compatible hub/smart speaker set up.

1. In the Google Home app, open the Devices page and then select + Add.

Navigate to the 'Devices' tab within the Google Home app. Locate and tap the '+ Add' button.

(The Google Home app screen shows a 'Hallway' device and an 'Add' button. Navigation icons for Favorites, Devices, Automations, Activity, and Settings are visible at the bottom.)

2. Select the option to add a Matter-enabled device.

Choose the option labeled "Matter-enabled device" and select "Add devices with the Matter logo".

3. Scan the Matter QR code found on the bottom of the Smart Home Collection PRO Hub.

Locate the Matter QR code on the bottom of your Smart Home Collection PRO Hub. Use the Google Home app's 'Add Accessory' feature to scan this code. Ensure your Matter-compatible Google Home hub or speaker is set up.

(The app screen shows an "Add Accessory" prompt with options to "Scan code or hold iPhone near the accessory" and "More options...")

4. Continue through any prompts or agreements. Then select Add to “Google Home”.

Follow any on-screen prompts and agreements. Confirm by selecting the "Add to 'Google Home'" button.

(A pop-up window titled "Bridge" indicates that "Google Home" would like to add this accessory to "Google Home". A diagram shows a central hub connected to three dots, representing the bridge.)

5. Choose a location for your Smart Home Collection PRO Hub. Then select Next.

Assign your Smart Home Collection PRO Hub to a room within your Google Home setup, such as "Basement Office". Then, tap "Next".

(A screen asks "Where is this device?". It prompts to "Choose a location for your Pulse Pro Hub. This will help you organize your devices." A list of rooms is shown, with "Basement Office" checked. A "Next" button is visible.)

6. You'll see the shades on the Devices page; you can control them from here.

Your connected shades will now appear on the Devices page. You can control them directly from this screen.

(The Google Home app's 'Devices' page is shown again. "Basement Office" is listed, and within it, a "bridge" and an "Office" shade are displayed, showing "Open 100%". Navigation icons are at the bottom.)

7. Test voice commands. Example commands:

Test voice control with commands like:

  • "Hey Google, open kitchen shade"
  • "Hey Google, close den blind"
  • "Hey Google, activate bedtime routine"
  • "Hey Google raise the blackout shade"
  • "Hey Google, set bedroom shade to 22%"
