Features and Precautions
Anti-Tearing:
Tearing is detected by an accelerometer. Caution: switch on the reader when it is in its final position to initialize the accelerometer correctly.
Bell:
For touch screen read-only readers, if the bell is activated, contact J2 is used to connect an external ring (max. 200 mA at 28 Vdc).
UHF Default Configuration Settings:
When the reader is powered off, default settings can be stored in internal memory accessible via UHF RFID technology and will be applied upon power-up.
Reader Configuration:
- R and S readers are configurable with SCB RFID / virtual configuration cards.
- OSDP™ readers are configurable with OCB RFID / virtual configuration cards or via FileTransfer command.
- Successful configuration is indicated by a green LED and five beeps. Failed configuration (incompatible firmware or key mismatch) results in a red LED and a 1-second beep.
- Caution: Always set your reader with your own company key.
Powering-Up Sequence:
Upon power-up, the reader undergoes an initialization phase:
- White LED and buzzer activate for 100 ms.
- LED activation indicates firmware version: Red = +10, Orange = +5, Green = +1.
- For serial R/S readers: Orange LED flashes 20 times, indicating waiting for an update.
- For Bluetooth® readers: White LED remains lit during Bluetooth initialization.
- Default LED activation: flashes blue for read-only, off for OSDP™ (if no custom configuration).
- For ARC screens with keypad: Default mode displays a standby image and activates the keyboard upon touch.
Precautions for Biometric Sensor and Keypad:
- For optimal biometric sensor operation, ensure it is free of water traces. Installation under cover is recommended for outdoor use.
- The keypad is sensitive; remove gloves before entering codes.
Caution for Bluetooth® Reader:
When powering up the Bluetooth® reader (BT1/BT2), ensure no objects or hands are within a 10 cm (3.94 in) radius around the reader.
Installation Precautions:
- Supply voltage at the reader's connector must be between +7 Vdc and +28 Vdc.
- Keep readers away from computer or power source cables to minimize electrical interference.
- Recommended distances between readers: Parallel planes: 30 cm (11.8 in), Same plane: 40 cm (15.8 in), Perpendicular planes: 30 cm (11.8 in).
- Recommended distance between Bluetooth® readers: 2 meters (78.74 in) in any plane.
- Install readers at a height below 2 meters (as per UL/IEC 62368 standard).
- Installation on metal surfaces may reduce reading distance.
- Use a ferrite (two-way) on power and data cables (e.g., Wurth Elektronik reference 74271222).
- For ARCS screw terminal output readers, connect the provided 2.2 µF capacitor between +12V and GND directly at the connector output (no polarization required).
- Readers are designed for indoor and outdoor installation.
- Connect wires or connectors BEFORE powering on. Disconnect wires or connectors ONLY AFTER powering off.
