Installing the DKVM-IP8
The DKVM-IP8 supports hot-plugging, allowing installation without powering down your computers.
Console Connections:
- Connect your USB keyboard to a console USB port on the DKVM-IP8.
- Connect your USB mouse to a console USB port on the DKVM-IP8.
- Connect your monitor's HDB 15 VGA connector to the console VGA port on the DKVM-IP8.
Computer Connections:
Repeat these steps for each computer you wish to connect:
- Connect one end of the KVM cable (VGA connector) to a VGA port on the DKVM-IP8.
- Connect the KVM cable's USB connector to a USB port on the back of your computer.
- Connect the KVM cable's VGA connector to the VGA port on the back of your computer.
Once all connections are made, the installation of the DKVM-IP8 is complete.
Connection Diagram Overview
The DKVM-IP8 features dedicated console ports on the front panel for connecting a local mouse, keyboard, and monitor. It also provides 8 PC ports, each with VGA and USB connectors, for linking to your computers. The rear panel includes these PC ports, console connections, an Ethernet port for IP connectivity, a DC power input, and a reset button. The diagram illustrates the typical setup where console peripherals are connected to the switch, and each computer is linked via KVM cables.
Switching Between Computers
The DKVM-IP8 allows you to switch between connected computers using either the front panel buttons or keyboard hotkeys.
Important Note: Ensure that a computer has fully completed its boot-up process before switching to it.
Front Panel Switching:
The buttons located on the front panel of the DKVM-IP8 enable quick and easy selection of the active computer.
Hot Key Switching:
You can also use keyboard hotkeys for computer selection. To activate the hotkey mode, press the Home / Caps Lock / Scroll Lock / Num Lock key twice within a 2-second interval. An audible beep [?] will confirm that hotkey mode is active. By default, the Home key initiates this mode, but Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, or Num Lock can also be configured.

Note: Access to hotkeys can also be managed through the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu. Press Home + Home + Enter to enter the OSD menu.
Note: Within the OSD menu, you can navigate through the available ports using the [down-arrow] or [up-arrow] keys and press Enter to select and switch to that port.
Note: To reset the DKVM-IP8 hardware to its default factory settings, press Home + Home + F11 + Enter.
Configuring the DKVM-IP8
Default Configuration Settings:
- Username: admin
- Password: 12345
- DHCP: Disabled
- IP Address: 192.168.1.101
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
You can configure the DKVM-IP8 via its web-based graphical user interface (GUI). To access the GUI, ensure the computer you are using for configuration is on the same IP subnet as the DKVM-IP8. Open a web browser, enter the DKVM-IP8's IP address (192.168.1.101 by default) in the address bar, and press Enter. When the authentication dialog appears, enter the default username and password, then click Login.
Note: To restore the device to its default settings, press and hold the Reset button on the console panel for 10 seconds. After the reset process completes (approximately 5 seconds), disconnect and then reconnect the power adapter. The device will be accessible via its default IP address after it has fully booted up (about 1 minute).
Note: The DKVM-IP8 can be remotely controlled using the 5.0 (V1.5) JRE (Java Runtime Environment) platform. This software can be downloaded from http://www.java.com/.
Safety and Operating Precautions
Please read this section carefully before installing and operating the device. Ensure that the device and all cables are free from mechanical damage. This device is intended for use only as described in this guide.
Operating Environment: The DKVM-IP8 is designed for operation in dry, clean, dust-free, and well-ventilated indoor environments, away from strong heat sources. Do not use it outdoors or in areas with high humidity. Avoid placing foreign objects on the device. Ensure that the ventilation openings are kept clear.
- Operating Temperature: -50 to +80 °C
- Storage Temperature: -20 to +60 °C
- Humidity: 0% to 80% non-condensing
Power Supply: Use only the power adapter specified in the technical characteristics (Output: 12V DC).
Maintenance and Care: Do not open the device casing. Before cleaning, disconnect the power supply. Remove dust using a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Avoid getting moisture inside the device.
Service Life: The expected service life of the device is 2 years.

The warranty period is one year from the date of purchase from an official dealer within Russia and CIS countries. The warranty period cannot exceed two years from the manufacturing date, which is determined by the 6th (year) and 7th (month) digits of the serial number.

Month Codes: 1 - January, 2 - February, ..., 9 - September, A - October, B - November, C - December.
D-Link warrants that the equipment is free from manufacturing defects and malfunctions, and will provide warranty service in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
