Introduction
The Eltako EUD12NPN-BT/300W-230V is a universal dimmer switch featuring integrated timer functionality and Bluetooth connectivity, controllable via the ELTAKO Connect app. It utilizes a Power MOSFET for loads up to 300W and offers automatic lamp detection with a low standby loss of only 0.3 watts.
The device allows for granular control over minimum and maximum brightness, dimming speed, and various specialized functions such as a children's room mode, snooze function, motion detector, and programmable timer/astro functions. Settings can be managed through the app, including time, date, location, and Bluetooth parameters.
It is a modular device designed for DIN EN 60715 TH35 rail mounting, occupying 1 module (18 mm width, 58 mm deep). It is suitable for dimmable 230 V LED lamps and dimmable energy-saving lamps (ESL), with performance dependent on lamp electronics and dimming technology.
Key Features & Operation
The dimmer switch supports soft start and soft OFF functions to protect lamps.
Control & Power:
- Control, supply, and switching voltage: 230 V.
- Integrated timer with up to 10 program memory locations.
- Automatic date and summer/winter time changeover.
- Power reserve without battery: approx. 5 days.
Program Memory Locations: Each location can be configured for the Astro function (automatic switching after sunrise or sunset) or one of 9 other functions: On, Off, On with dimming value (%), On with memory value, light alarm clock, snooze switch, On with residual brightness, Off with residual brightness, or TI (Impulse Generator).
Power Failure Handling: In case of a power failure, the switching position and brightness level are stored and the device resumes operation upon power return.
Protection: Automatic electronic overload protection and over-temperature switch-off.
Manual Control: A front button allows manual switching On/Off. The control input A1 supports universal buttons for pulses. A separate direction button for 'off' can be connected via a diode (RTD), and a direction button for 'on' connects directly to A1. The input A1 can switch between 'direction button' and 'universal button' modes.
Advanced Inputs:
- BM input: For connecting a motion detector.
- ZE and ZA inputs: For central On/Off control with priority, overriding other inputs when active. A green LED indicates activation of one of the four control inputs.
ELTAKO Connect App Integration
The dimmer switch is configured via the ELTAKO Connect app.
Connecting to the App:
- Press the front button for 6 seconds until the blue LED flashes.
- Establish connection via the app (default PIN: 123123).
- The blue LED flashes during pairing readiness and turns solid once connected.
- The connection automatically ends after 3 minutes of inactivity or can be manually ended.
- The app guides users through the setup process.
- Automatic disconnection occurs after 20 minutes of no app interaction.
Bluetooth Reset: Tap the front button 8 times to reset the Bluetooth PIN. ?
App Operation - Basic Settings:
- Local Pushbutton Input (A1): Auto-detects universal or directional pushbuttons.
- Directional Pushbutton: Manual switching via a directional pushbutton.
- Universal Pushbutton: Manual switching via a universal pushbutton.
App Operation - Operating Mode:
- Auto (Default): Short commands switch On/Off; continuous control adjusts brightness to maximum. Interruptions change dimming direction. Central control has priority. Motion detector, light alarm clock, and snooze functions are configurable.
Special Functions & Modes
Motion Detector:
- No Residual Brightness: Turns off when the BM input is inactive and the off-delay expires.
- With Residual Brightness: Remains at a set residual brightness when the BM input is inactive and the off-delay expires.
- Residual Brightness via Switching Program: Configurable residual brightness control within programs.
- Residual Brightness via ZE and ZA: ZE activates with residual brightness, ZA deactivates.
- No Residual Brightness (Semi-Automatic): Turns off only after the BM input is inactive and the off-delay expires.
Light Alarm Clock:
- Activated via a switching program.
- Switches on at low brightness and slowly dims up.
- Duration settable from 1 to 240 minutes.
- Can also be activated by briefly clicking ZE or double-clicking the 'on' universal/directional button (UT/RT).
Snooze Function:
- Activated via a switching program.
- Dims to minimum brightness and switches off. Can be cancelled by briefly pressing the button.
- Duration settable from 1 to 240 minutes.
- Can also be activated by briefly clicking ZA or double-clicking the 'off' universal/directional button (UT/RT).
TI | Impulse Generator: Clock generator with adjustable switch-on/off times (0.1s to 9.9 min) and adjustable maximum brightness (4-100%). Central inputs and BM are inactive.
Relay Function (ER): Switching relay with adjustable brightness (4-100%). Soft on/off duration configurable. Central inputs, BM, and switching programs are inactive.
ESV | Impulse Switch with Off Delay: Adjustable off delay (1-120 min) with optional switch-off warning (0-3 min). Central inputs are active; BM and programs are inactive.
Staircase Timer Switch (TLZ): Switchable switch-off warning, adjustable off delay (1-120 min). Off-delay can be extended by button presses. Permanent light activation possible. ZE and BM inputs start off-delay; ZA input switches off.
MIN Function: Switches to minimum brightness on control voltage application, dims to maximum during the set time, and switches off immediately when voltage is removed. Central inputs active; BM and programs inactive.
MMX Function: Similar to MIN, but dims down to minimum brightness before switching off when voltage is removed.
Dimming Behavior & Curves
Minimum Brightness: Adjustable from 4% to 90% (must be 10% lower than maximum).
Maximum Brightness: Adjustable from 14% to 100% (must be 10% higher than minimum).
Send Brightness: Dims to the current app-set minimum/maximum brightness without altering the memory value, using the app's dimming speed.
Dimming Curves:
- Auto: Suitable for all lamp types. Inductive (wound) transformers can only be used here.
- Leading Edge (LC1-LC3): For dimmable 230 V LED lamps that require specific dimming curves.
- Trailing Edge (LC4-LC6): For dimmable 230 V LED lamps that require specific dimming curves.
Dimming Speed: Settings for overall dimming speed, switch-on speed, and switch-off speed.
Switch-on Behavior:

Technical Data
Parameter | Specification |
---|---|
Dimmable 230 V LED lamps | up to 300 W 5)6) |
Incandescent and halogen lamps 1) 230 V (R) | up to 300 W 6) |
Inductive transformers (L) 2)3) | up to 300 W 6) |
Electronic transformers (C) 2)3) | up to 300 W 6) |
Dimmable energy saving lamps ESL | up to 300 W 5)6) |
Max./min. temperature at mounting location | +50°C/-20°C 4) |
Standby loss (active power) | 0.3 W |
Notes:
- 1) For lamps with a maximum of 150 W.
- 2) Max. 2 inductive (wound) transformers of the same type per dimmer. No-load operation on the secondary part is not permitted. No load-switching-off on the secondary part is allowed. Parallel operation of inductive and capacitive transformers is not allowed.
- 3) When calculating load, consider 20% loss for inductive transformers and 5% for lamp load.
- 4) Affects maximum switching power.
- 5) Applies to dimmable ESL and 230 V LEDs. Lamp electronics may cause limited dimming range, switch-on/off issues, or restrictions on lamp quantity, especially with low loads (e.g., 5 W-LEDs). Leading/trailing edge optimization may limit output to 100 W and is not suitable for inductive transformers.
- 6) With loads over 100 W, maintain a ventilation distance of 12 modules to adjacent devices.
