Patient Instructions for Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) Test

Your doctor has ordered an Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) test for you. The purpose of this test is to give the doctor information about your auditory system from your inner ear up to the brainstem.
The test is: · Simple · Painless · Lasts approximately one hour
During the Test Surface electrodes will be placed on your skin, forehead, and ears. You will listen to clicking sounds presented through soft earplugs. The test equipment will record the responses from parts of your auditory system while you relax.

Please come to the Otolaryngology (ENT) Clinic at the University Hospital.

After the Test Analysis of the results will be done by the audiologist and your otolaryngologist after the test has been completed. Your doctor will either have you schedule a separate appointment to discuss the test results, or they will call you, send you a MyChart message or contact you by mail with the test findings.
