The control panel features several keys and touch controls for operating the hob. Below is a description of each:
- 1. ON/OFF key: Powers the hob on and off.
- 2. Slide-touch control: Used for adjusting heat settings.
- 3. Child lock key: Locks the controls to prevent unintended use.
- 4. Timer key: Used for setting the timer function.
- 5. Heating zone selection key: Selects the specific cooking zone.
- 6. Extendable zone selection key: Selects extendable cooking zones.
The control panel displays indicators for various functions, including heat levels and timer settings.
Before using your New Hob
- Read this entire guide, paying special attention to the 'Safety Warnings' section.
- Ensure all protective film has been removed from the ceramic hob surface.
Using the Touch Controls
- The controls are touch-sensitive and do not require significant pressure. Use the ball of your finger, not the tip.
- A beep sound confirms each touch registration.
- Keep the controls clean and dry. Objects or even a thin film of water can make operation difficult.
Using your Hob
To start cooking:
- Touch the ON/OFF (1) key. All indicators will show "--".
- Place a suitable pan on the desired cooking zone. Ensure the pan base and hob surface are clean and dry.
- Select the heating zone you wish to use. The indicator next to the key will flash "5", which is the default power level.
- Adjust the heat setting using the "Slider" control.
- If no heat setting is chosen within 1 minute, the hob will automatically switch off. Restart from step 1.
- Heat settings can be modified anytime by selecting the zone and using the "Slider" control.
When you have finished cooking:
- Select the heating zone you wish to switch off.
- Turn the cooking zone off by scrolling down to "0" on the "Slider" control. Ensure the display shows "0".
- Turn the entire cooktop off by touching the ON/OFF (1) key.
Beware of hot surfaces:
When "H" is displayed for a cooking zone, it indicates that the zone is too hot to touch. The "H" will disappear once the zone has cooled to a safe temperature. This feature can also be used for energy saving; if you wish to heat further pans, you can utilize the residual heat of a hotplate.
Locking the Controls (Child lock)
The child lock feature prevents accidental operation of the cooking zones, for instance, by children.
- When locked, all controls except the ON/OFF key are disabled.
To lock the controls:
Touch the lock (?) key. The timer indicator will show "Lo" (Lock).
To unlock the controls:
- Ensure the hob is turned on.
- Touch and hold the lock (?) key for 5 seconds.
- You can now use your hob normally.
Note: While the hob is in lock mode, only the ON/OFF key is active. This allows you to turn off the hob in an emergency, but you must unlock it before further operation.
Residual Heat Warning
After operation, some cooking zones may retain residual heat. The letter "H" displayed on a zone indicates it is hot and should not be touched.
Auto Shutdown
This is a safety feature that automatically shuts down a cooking zone if it is left on unintentionally. The default shutdown times based on power level are:
Power level | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Default working timer (hour) | 8 | 8 | 8 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
Using the Timer
The timer can be used in two ways:
- Minute Minder: Functions as a countdown timer without automatically switching off any cooking zones when the time expires.
- Cut-off Timer: Turns off one or more cooking zones after the set time has expired.
*The timer can be set for up to 99 minutes.
