Database Converting
EthCC Converter
The EthCC Converter is a program that converts a Database defined with the HMC EthCC protocol into an Autosar database that can be used in CANoe.
Workflow:
The interface displays fields for 'Input Database (.ethcc)' and 'Output Database (.arxml)', a 'Convert' button, and a 'Conversion Status' log. Numbered indicators guide the user through the workflow:
- 1. Input database: Select the EthCC DB to be converted to ARXML.
- 2. Output database: Set the name and path to save after ARXML conversion.
- 3. Convert: Perform the database conversion process.
- 4. Conversion Status: Output information related to database conversion.
Diagram Description: The EthCC Converter GUI shows input fields for source (.ethcc) and destination (.arxml) databases, a 'Convert' button, and a status log. The log displays warning messages related to signal ranges and unused bytes, followed by a successful conversion confirmation.
Procedure:
- Input database operation
- Output database operation
- Click Convert
Troubleshooting Note: If an 'Error' message is output in the Conversion Status, ARXML will not be generated. This indicates a violation of the DB conversion guidelines defined by HMC in the EthCC DB. Contact HMC for the relevant DB.
Network Simulation Model Generation
Model Generation Wizard
This program automatically generates a Network simulation model according to the contents of the Network DB and is included in CANoe.
Launching the Model Generation Wizard:
- When running within CANoe: Navigate to Simulation -> Run Model generation wizard.
- When starting without running CANoe: Access via Windows Start Menu -> Vector CANoe -> Tools -> Model generation wizard.
Diagram Description: A visual guide shows how to launch the Model Generation Wizard, either from within the CANoe application's 'Simulation' menu or independently from the Windows Start Menu under 'Vector CANoe -> Tools'.
Step 1: Load ARXML DB
Load the DB by clicking 'Select' in the 'Generation Input/Source' section below. After confirming 'EtherCC' in the highlighted area, set the 'Output Path'.
Diagram Description: The Model Generation Wizard interface, specifically the 'Inputs/Directories' tab, is shown. The 'Database' field is populated with a path to an .arxml file, 'EtherCC' is selected as the input type, and the 'Output Path' is specified.
Step 2: Configure Settings
Configure detailed settings for model generation. The current NM is not supported and therefore does not function. Ensure the 'Force AsrPDUIL2 model' option in Bus Settings is checked.
Diagram Description: The Model Generation Wizard interface displays the 'Settings' tab. This screen allows detailed configuration of the network simulation model generation process, including panel types, variants (e.g., AUTOSAR NM), and crucial 'Bus Settings'.
Step 3: Node Selection
A list of ECUs (Electronic Control Units) defined in the DB is displayed. Select the specific ECUs you wish to include in the generated network simulation model.
Diagram Description: The Model Generation Wizard interface shows the 'Nodes' tab. This section lists the ECUs identified in the database, such as ICU, H.U, CLU, and ESU, with checkboxes to select them.
Step 4: Generation
Click 'Generate' in the bottom right corner (highlighted in red). Before clicking Generate, ensure all CANoe instances are closed.
Diagram Description: The Model Generation Wizard interface is shown on the 'Generation' tab. The 'Generate' button is highlighted, indicating the final step to initiate the model creation process. A note emphasizes closing all running CANoe instances.
