Tutorial: Getting to Know Your GO 3 Action Pod Buttons
Action Pod Button Identification
The Action Pod features several key buttons and indicators:
- 1. Flip Touchscreen

Power Button:
- When the camera is off: Press the power button once to turn on the camera. The light will flash cyan slowly then remain solid.
- When on: Press once to turn the touch flip screen on or off.
- Long press for 2 seconds to turn the camera off. If unresponsive, long press for 7 seconds to force shut down.
Shutter Button:
- When off: Press the shutter button to turn on the camera and enter QuickCapture mode. The indicator light will flash red when recording.
- When on: Press once to start shooting.
Quick Button:
- Click once to bring up the preset menu page or switch modes.
- Click again to cycle through the options on the page.
GO 3 Camera Buttons
The GO 3 camera itself has the following buttons and features:

Button Operation:
- Long press the GO 3 button for 2 seconds to power on. The indicator light will flash cyan then remain lit. GO 3 will automatically enter standby mode.
- In Standby Mode:
- By default, press once to start recording. Press again to stop recording.
- Double press to start the FreeFrame video recording.
- Long press for 2 seconds to turn off. If unresponsive, long press for 7 seconds to force shut down.
Customizing GO 3 Buttons:
- You can customize the buttons through the Action Pod. Swipe down from the edge of the flip screen to enter camera settings and access QuickCapture customization.
- You can also customize GO 3's buttons in the Insta360 App settings when connected to your phone.
Connecting GO 3 to Your Phone
- Press the power button to turn on GO 3.
- Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your smartphone.
- Open the Insta360 app and tap the camera icon on the home screen.
- Follow the app instructions. For initial connection, confirm authorization by tapping the Action Pod or pressing the shutter button.
Trouble Connecting via the App?
- Check the Insta360 app has permission for network, Bluetooth, and local network access.
- In Action Pod settings, verify Wi-Fi is enabled and "on."
- Ensure GO 3 is close enough to your phone.
- Reset GO 3 and try connecting again.
If unable to follow these steps, go directly to your smartphone's Wi-Fi settings. Find your GO 3, tap it, and enter the password "88888888". Then return to the app.
If you still cannot connect, please visit the Insta360 website and click the yellow button in the lower right corner to contact online support. Include your order ID and the support team will address your issue promptly.
Updating GO 3 Firmware
Via the App:
- Before updating, ensure GO 3 and Action Pod have at least 25% battery.
- Connect GO 3 to the Insta360 app. It will notify you of new firmware. Follow the on-screen instructions to update.
If the update fails, check the following and try again:
- Ensure GO 3 is in the Action Pod and close to your phone (remove the red sticker on the back of the camera).
- Keep the Insta360 app open and do not exit or minimize it.
- Confirm your phone has a strong, stable internet connection.
After checking the above, restart GO 3 and retry the update. If it still fails, try updating via computer instead.
Via Computer:
- Ensure GO 3 is on and in the Action Pod.
- Connect the Action Pod to your computer with a USB-C cable and select USB mode.
- Download the latest firmware from the Insta360 website (click "Downloads" at the top).
- Once your computer recognizes GO 3, copy the firmware file to the GO 3 root directory. Do not rename the file.
- Disconnect GO 3 from the computer. It will power off automatically. Turn GO 3 back on; the indicator will slowly flash blue as the update starts.
- GO 3 will restart automatically when the update completes. If it fails, please contact Insta360 customer support.

Note:
- Devices that do not meet the above requirements may still be able to use the app to control the camera. However, the performance of some processor-intensive and AI-powered features may be sub-optimal.
- After testing, phones equipped with Qualcomm SDM765 5G chips have poor hardware decoding capabilities and are not supported for use, such as OPPO Reno 3 5G.
- App installation requires a mobile phone with a 64-bit system. A 32-bit system does not support app installation.
