Enabling Screen Recording for DisplayLink Manager
To allow the DisplayLink Manager app to capture pixels and send them to your USB peripheral, you need to enable Screen Recording permission:
- Select the "Privacy" tab in your system settings.
- Navigate to "Screen Recording" in the list on the left.
- Tick the "Screen Recording" permission checkbox for DisplayLink Manager.
NOTE for Apple Silicon (M1): MacBooks with M1 chips have enhanced privacy protections. To ensure DisplayLink devices function correctly, users must permit "Screen Recording". This message is generated by the operating system; DisplayLink does not actually record your screen. Granting this permission allows the DisplayLink driver to access the necessary pixels for rendering mirrored or extended screens and transmitting them over USB. DisplayLink Manager does not store or record any screen content.
