DisplayLink USB Graphics Software: Download and Installation Guide

This document provides instructions for downloading and installing the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for both Windows and macOS operating systems.

Downloading and Updating Drivers

  1. Refer to https://www.displaylink.com/downloads to download or update the driver before using the product.
  2. Select either "INDIVIDUAL INSTALLERS" or "CORPORATE INSTALLERS", then choose "Windows" or "macOS".
  3. Open and download the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software.

NOTE: Before downloading, please check your PC's operating system model in "Settings >> About" and then select the appropriate DisplayLink version to download.

DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows

This section details the download and installation of DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows. It is recommended to update to the latest driver to address potential security issues, fix bugs, improve performance, and add new features.

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 10, 8.1, 7

  1. Refer to www.displaylink.com/downloads to download or update the driver.
  2. Select "INDIVIDUAL INSTALLERS" or "CORPORATE INSTALLERS" >> "Windows".
  3. Open and download the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows (.exe file).

DisplayLink macOS Software

DisplayLink Manager is a new application designed to enable DisplayLink docks, adapters, or monitors on macOS platforms. It combines the latest driver with features that streamline the setup of multiple displays, supporting resolutions up to 4K.

Supported Operating Systems: macOS (e.g., Big Sur 11.0, Catalina 10.15, Mojave 10.14)

Installation for macOS:

  1. Refer to www.displaylink.com/downloads to download or update the driver.
  2. Select "INDIVIDUAL INSTALLERS" >> "macOS".
  3. Open and download the DisplayLink Manager Graphics Connectivity .pkg file.

NOTE: When prompted to agree to install and enter your password, please click "Agree" and enter your fingerprint or password to proceed. Otherwise, the driver installation may fail.

Enabling Screen Recording for DisplayLink Manager

To allow the DisplayLink Manager app to capture pixels and send them to your USB peripheral, you need to enable Screen Recording permission:

  1. Select the "Privacy" tab in your system settings.
  2. Navigate to "Screen Recording" in the list on the left.
  3. Tick the "Screen Recording" permission checkbox for DisplayLink Manager.

NOTE for Apple Silicon (M1): MacBooks with M1 chips have enhanced privacy protections. To ensure DisplayLink devices function correctly, users must permit "Screen Recording". This message is generated by the operating system; DisplayLink does not actually record your screen. Granting this permission allows the DisplayLink driver to access the necessary pixels for rendering mirrored or extended screens and transmitting them over USB. DisplayLink Manager does not store or record any screen content.
