Visual Aid: The screen displays numbered points for leveling. The diagram shows adjusting nuts under the platform to set the nozzle-to-platform distance.

Slicing Software Settings

This section guides you through configuring the slicing software (Cura) for the MOORE 1 printer.

1. Model Settings

Adding the Printer:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Printer > Add Printer.
  2. Select "Custom FFF printer" under "Add a non-networked printer".
  3. In the "Custom FFF printer" settings, set the "Printer name" to "MOORE 1".
  4. Click "Add".

2. Parameter Settings

Configure the printer settings within Cura:

  • Printer Settings: Set dimensions (X: 180.0, Y: 180.0, Z: 180.0 mm), build plate shape (Rectangular), and other basic settings.
  • Printhead Settings: Adjust nozzle size (e.g., 1.5 mm), compatible material diameter (e.g., 3.0 mm), and nozzle offsets.
  • Extruder Settings: Configure extruder start and end G-code.
  • Quality Settings: Set Layer Height (e.g., 0.5 mm), Initial Layer Height (e.g., 1.0 mm), Line Width (e.g., 1.5 mm), Wall Thickness (e.g., 1.5 mm), and Wall Line Count (e.g., 1).
  • Speed Settings: Adjust Print Speed (e.g., 40.0 mm/s), Wall Speed (e.g., 20.0 mm/s), Top/Bottom Speed (e.g., 20.0 mm/s), Travel Speed (e.g., 40.0 mm/s), and Initial Layer Speed (e.g., 20.0 mm/s).
  • Special Modes: Enable "Surface Mode" and "Spiralize Outer Contour" for specific print effects.

3. Slicing Workflow

  1. Open a file (.STL, .OBJ) containing your 3D model.
  2. Click "Slice" to process the model based on your settings.
  3. Click "Preview" to review the sliced model layer by layer.
  4. Click "Save to Disk" to save the G-code file to your SD card or computer.

Precautions and Operations for Replacing the Barrel

  • Piston Position: The piston must be moved to its original position before changing the barrel.
  • Feed Tube: The feed tube of the print head must be unplugged before operation.

Material Control Methods:

  • Linkage mode (default): Controls the feeding device and print head motor simultaneously.
  • Feeding device mode: Controls only the feeding device motor.
  • Print head mode: Controls only the print head motor.

Material Control Interface: From the "Materials" screen, select "Tool", then "Materials". You can adjust material feed rate using "E1+" and "E1-" buttons (speed range 0-40).

Preparation of the Clay

  1. 1. Soak the clay:

Put the clay into a basin, add water to cover the clay, and soak for 2.5 hours. (Complimentary clay can be used directly without soaking).

  2. 2. Mix/blend the clay:

Take out the clay and mix it evenly by hand for 3-5 minutes. Shape the clay into a cylinder slightly smaller than the barrel's diameter.

  3. 3. Load the clay into the barrel:

Place the prepared clay cylinder into the barrel.

  4. 4. Squeeze the air/bubbles out:

Beat the barrel up and down to expel air. Use a piece of thick paper to help push out the bubbles from the barrel.

Cautions After Printing

Note: Soak the printhead/nozzle in water after printing to prevent the mud from drying and clogging the printhead. ?
