Important Safety Precautions

Cord with Safety Release

The safety release cord attaches to the appliance via a magnetic connector. This connector detaches from the appliance if accidentally pulled. DO NOT let the cord hang over the edge of the counter. DO NOT use this appliance with an extension cord. The magnetic connector inserts into the appliance's socket in only one direction. Always insert the cord's magnetic connector into the appliance's socket before plugging the cord into the wall outlet. To turn off the appliance, always remove the cord from the wall outlet first.

If the cord becomes detached from the appliance during use, it is important to:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Turn the switch to the 'off' position.
  3. Reconnect the cord to the appliance.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  5. Turn the on/off switch to 'on'.

If the magnetic cord is damaged in any way, contact Salton at the address provided in this brochure for a replacement cord. DO NOT attempt to permanently attach the cord to the appliance. Do not use any other cord with this appliance.

REMARK: To avoid damaging the non-stick surface, use plastic, nylon, or wooden utensils to stir ingredients.

Practical Tips

  1. Never eat directly from a fork that has just been removed from hot oil or broth, as the fork can be extremely hot.
  2. DO NOT move the fork back and forth when food is immersed in hot oil, broth, or cheese. This could damage the pot's cooking surface.
  3. The pot filled with hot ingredients should be moved with great care.
  4. Splattering may occur when cooking with oil. Ensure the pot is completely dry before filling it with oil.
  5. For oil cooking, do not use more than 1500 ml (6 1/3 cups) of vegetable oil. Do not use butter, margarine, lard, olive oil, or shortening. Never add water or other liquids to the oil.
  6. DO NOT cover the pot while the oil is heating or during cooking.
  7. Before cooking food in oil, pat it dry with paper towels to remove ice crystals or excess water.

Recipes

Cheese Fondue

Ingredients:

Rub the inside of the pot with the garlic clove. Set the temperature to 'MAX'. Pour the wine into the pot and heat for 6 to 10 minutes. Gradually add the cheeses, stirring until a smooth consistency is achieved. When all the cheese has melted, add the Kirsch, pepper, and nutmeg. Using a fork, each guest turns a piece of bread in the cheese. Throughout the meal, gradually reduce the heat. REMARK: The cheese should simmer, never boil.

Serve with a dry white wine.
