Product Features and Highlights
Flexible Ethernet Networking
The eKitEngine S310 series switches support traditional Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), along with the industry-standard Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) defined in ITU-T G.8032. ERPS provides millisecond-level protection switching using traditional Ethernet MAC and bridging functions. The switches also feature the Smart Link function for uplink backup, allowing one switch to connect to multiple aggregation switches via multiple links, significantly improving the reliability of access devices.
Diversified Security Control
The S310 series supports multiple security authentication modes, including MAC address authentication and 802.1X authentication, dynamically delivering user policies for VLAN, QoS, and ACL. It offers port-based 802.1X, MAC address, and multi-mode authentication. The switches provide defense mechanisms against DoS attacks (e.g., SYN flood, Land, Smurf, ICMP flood) and user-targeted attacks (e.g., bogus DHCP server, IP/MAC spoofing, DHCP request flood, variable DHCP CHADDR values). DHCP snooping is supported to maintain binding entries and discard invalid packets, with configurable trusted/untrusted ports to ensure users connect only to authorized DHCP servers. Strict ARP entry learning prevents ARP spoofing from exhausting ARP entries, ensuring authorized user Internet access.
Easy Operations and Maintenance
Management and maintenance are supported via SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, SNMPv3, CLI, web system, or SSHv2.0. Features include remote network monitoring (RMON), multiple log hosts, port traffic statistics collection, and network quality analysis to facilitate network optimization. The MUX VLAN function, comprising a principal VLAN and subordinate VLANs (group and separate), allows communication between subordinate VLANs and the principal VLAN, and among ports within a subordinate group VLAN. VLAN-based Spanning Tree (VBST) is also supported.
Intelligent Stack (iStack)
The eKitEngine S310 series supports iStack, allowing multiple stacking-capable switches to be logically stacked into a single virtual switch. Member switches in a stack provide redundancy backup for device reliability and use inter-device link aggregation for link reliability. iStack enhances network scalability by allowing port, bandwidth, and processing capacity increases through adding member switches. It simplifies device configuration and management, as multiple physical switches are virtualized into one logical device, manageable through any stack member switch. Some S310 models feature dedicated stack ports that do not require configuration and free up uplink ports.
PoE Power Supply
PoE models offer Fast PoE, supplying power to Powered Devices (PDs) within seconds of power-on, significantly reducing the power-off time of PDs compared to common switches. Perpetual PoE ensures uninterrupted power supply to downstream PDs even when the PoE switch restarts, for example, during software upgrades.
Smart Upgrade
Leveraging Huawei Online Upgrade Platform (HOUP), the S310 series supports smart upgrades. Switches obtain the version upgrade path from HOUP and download new system software. The upgrade process is highly automated with one-click upgrade support and system software pre-loading, which reduces upgrade time and service interruption. This feature simplifies device upgrades, enabling customers to perform upgrades independently, reducing maintenance costs, and minimizing upgrade failure risks through standardized upgrade paths.
Cloud Management
The Huawei eKit app enables users to configure, monitor, and inspect switches via the cloud, reducing onsite deployment and O&M manpower costs. The eKitEngine S310 series supports both cloud management and on-premise management modes, which can be flexibly switched to ensure smooth evolution and maximize return on investment (ROI).
