Product Components
The Thule EasyFold 3 2-bike carrier includes the main frame, support arms, wheel holders, straps, locking mechanisms, and various fasteners (bolts, nuts, Allen key).
Assembly and Installation
Follow these steps to assemble and mount the carrier onto your vehicle's tow bar.
Step 1: Initial Assembly
Assemble the main frame components and attach the support arms using the provided hardware, including bolts and an Allen key.
Step 2: Mounting to Tow Bar
Position the carrier onto the tow bar's tow ball. Ensure correct alignment and secure it using the carrier's locking mechanism. A checkmark indicates proper mounting, while an 'X' signifies incorrect mounting.
Step 3: Securing the Carrier
Operate the locking knob or lever to firmly attach the carrier to the tow bar. A click sound and indicator confirm secure locking.
Step 4: Deploying the Carrier
Extend the carrier's arms and unfold the main structure to prepare for bike loading.
Loading and Securing Bikes
Step 5: Securing Bike Frames
Place bikes onto the carrier and secure their frames using the provided straps or clamps. Tighten the securing mechanisms properly. Ensure correct positioning of the bike frame within the clamp.
Step 6: Securing Bike Wheels
Attach wheel holders and secure the bike wheels using the straps. Ensure straps are correctly routed and tensioned.
Step 7: Attaching License Plates
Attach the license plate brackets (e.g., AA 11 22) to the carrier as shown.
Locking Mechanisms
Use the provided keys to lock the carrier to the tow bar and to lock the bike frames to the carrier, preventing theft.
Tilting Function
The carrier features a tilting mechanism to allow access to the vehicle's trunk. Operate the tilt lever to tilt the carrier forward. Ensure the carrier is properly secured in both the upright and tilted positions.
Transporting Bikes
Load up to two bikes onto the carrier. Ensure bikes are spaced adequately (e.g., >10 cm between bikes) and that their frames are securely fastened with straps. Pay attention to the correct angle and strap path for optimal security.
Carrier Removal and Storage
Follow the instructions to safely remove the carrier from the tow bar and fold it for storage.
Accessories and Maintenance
Information on available accessories and spare parts, including light bulb replacement, is provided.
