WALDSCHULE HATTEN
PREPARING STUDENTS FOR TOMORROW, TODAY

"Schools have the task of making children and teenagers fit for the challenges of both our future and our society. By building knowledge and skills, doors shall be opened to this future (...) That's why learning with digital devices is not simply a process of digitalization, which everyone is talking about right now. It is essential to preserving the existence of a peaceful society."
-- Silke Müller Principal of Waldschule Hatten

OVERVIEW
Waldschule Hatten seeks to create a best-in-class experience for students and teachers, following the European Union Education Policy successfully integrating digital tools and edtech to create a creative, focused & fun learning environment for students and educators.

CHALLENGE
As Waldschule Hatten aims to prepare students with skills and digital acumen, they knew they had to start putting that into practice today. But where to start? To prepare students for the careers of the future, it wasn't enough to simply start using digital tools; they needed to holistically integrate technology into learning and teaching experiences. The digital tools needed to feel like natural extensions for both educators and students and they needed to create environments that fostered creativity and provided measurable impact.
SOLUTION
They started by equipping students and educators with the right base technology. The school made it mandatory for students from grade 7 on to be equipped with an iPad and sourced the right tools to enhance - not hinder learning. Logitech solutions like the Rugged Combo 3 protective iPad case and the digital pen Crayon enabled students to navigate digital learning apps with ease and precision.
The Rugged Combo 3 ensures the iPads are well-protected with military-grade drop protection, and ready for action with 5 versatile use modes. The adjustable kickstand and keyboard that folds back supports typing, viewing, sketching, reading, taking photos and more. And thanks to Smart Connector technology, the keyboard connects to the iPad instantly--no pairing required, ensuring students never need to charge the keyboard and providing a secure solution for testing and exams.
Similarly, the Logitech Crayon enables students to interact with the curriculum with total precision and flexibility. With a smart tip that adjusts line weight with tilt and zero perceptible lag time, everything students write is clear and legible. And a 7.5-hour battery life and fast charging, ensures the Crayon is always ready to go.
In addition, following an initiative started by the students themselves, Waldschule Hatten created a makerspace equipped with a studio set-up for podcasting and video making, using the Logitech Mevo and Logitech Yeti microphones. Students, with the support of engaged teachers, can use this space for their own projects and to create material for class projects.
"It's important that educators are brave to experiment; try new things to see what works for you and your students. You can have fun while opening doors to the future."
-- Silke Müller Principal of Waldschule Hatten
