1.0 Product Introduction

Thank you for choosing the SVANTTO IDS102 pen scanner. This device offers advanced functions including voice translation, scan translation, text excerpt, recording, and a built-in dictionary. It is designed to assist individuals with dyslexia and reading difficulties, as well as for tourism, business negotiations, language learning, and studying abroad.

1.1 What's in the Box

Upon receiving the package, please open and check the following items:

1.2 Product Overview

The IDS102 Pen Scanner features a user-friendly design with accessible controls and a clear display.

1.3 Function Buttons

1.4 Screen Operation Instruction

The device features a touch-sensitive color display for intuitive operation.

  1. Swipe your finger across the screen to switch between different screens. The specific navigation depends on the current content.
  2. Tap on function icons on the homepage to access their respective interfaces.

2.0 Functions Instruction

2.1 Scan Translation

To perform a scan translation:

  1. Hold the pen scanner and position the scanning head over the text you wish to scan. Ensure the target font is centered within the scanning window.
  2. Gently press down on the scanning pen. The scanning window will illuminate.
  3. Move the pen scanner at a consistent speed along the line of text to complete the scan.

Figures 2-1, 2-2, and 2-3 illustrate correct and incorrect scanning angles and positioning.

2.2 Voice Translation

The device supports both online and offline voice translation. The offline mode offers several languages, including Chinese, English, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Russian, and Spanish. After speaking, the entered voice content and its translation are displayed on the screen for verification. This feature is also beneficial for individuals with hearing impairments.

The interface displays the entered voice content and the translation result. An option for reading aloud is also available.

Note: The color of the microphone indicator corresponds to the selected language. You can switch the recording language by holding down either the "AI" button or the "O" button.

Figure 2-4 shows the Voice Translation Settings, including language selection and display of translated content.

2.3 Excerpt

Note: A Wi-Fi connection is required for this function.

  1. Enter the text excerpt mode. Click the "YES" button to display a URL and QR code for simultaneous interpretation text viewing.
  2. The URL and QR code are updated each time you exit and re-enter the text excerpt module. Please check for updates before use.
  3. Enter the provided URL into a web browser or scan the QR code with your mobile phone to access the text viewing page.
  4. After scanning the text with the device, you can view the content on the web page.

Figure 2-9 indicates the end of a recording session.

2.4 Dictionary

The IDS102 includes five built-in dictionaries: English-Chinese, Chinese-English, English/Japanese, Chinese dictionary, and an idiom dictionary.

Figure 2-5 displays the interface for accessing these built-in dictionaries.

2.5 Smart Record

The recording time can extend up to 4 hours.

To start recording: Click the record icon, select your desired language, and then click the "v" icon to end the recording.

Figure 2-6 shows the recording interface with a button to initiate recording. Figure 2-7 lists the available languages for recording recognition, including Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French, Traditional Chinese, English, Korean, German, Russian, and Spanish. Figure 2-8 shows the screen after selecting English as the recording language.

2.6 Excerpt (Favorites)

This module is designed to store frequently forgotten words, sentences, or voice recordings, which can be accessed later from the Favorites section.

The contents available within this module include scan translation, Chinese-English dictionary, English/Chinese dictionary, English/Japanese dictionary, Chinese dictionary, idiom dictionary, vocabulary, and voice translation.

Figure 2-10 illustrates the various contents accessible within the Favorites feature.

2.7 Vocabulary

The device offers ten built-in vocabulary dictionaries, covering various educational levels and standardized tests:

Figure 2-11 visually represents these built-in vocabulary dictionaries.

2.8 Settings

Access the settings menu by tapping the corresponding system settings icon.

Figure 2-12 displays the main settings interface, showing options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Brightness, Sounds, Language, Auto-lock, Pronunciation Speed, Clean data, Direction, and Update.

2.8.1 Wi-Fi Setting

To connect to a Wi-Fi network:

  1. Navigate to Wi-Fi settings and enable the Wi-Fi switch.
  2. Tap the "Refresh" button to scan for available networks.
  3. Select the desired Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  4. Tap "Join" to connect. A checkmark [✔️] will appear next to the connected network.

Figure 2-13 shows the Wi-Fi connection screen with a list of available networks.

2.8.2 Bluetooth Setting

Note: Bluetooth connectivity is limited to devices like Bluetooth earphones and speakers.

To pair a Bluetooth device:

  1. Enter the Bluetooth settings and turn on the Bluetooth switch.
  2. Tap "Refresh" to discover nearby devices.
  3. Select the desired device from the "Available devices" list.
  4. Once connected, the device name will appear under "Paired devices".

Figure 2-14 shows the Bluetooth settings screen, indicating the local Bluetooth name and sections for paired and available devices. Figure 2-15 displays a successfully paired device.

2.8.3 Scan Direction Setting

Choose your preferred scanning direction: Left-hand or Right-hand. The selected option will be marked with a checkmark [✔️].

Figure 2-16 illustrates the Scan Direction Setting screen.

2.8.4 Reset the Machine

This function deletes all records and restores the device to its factory settings. Please confirm the reset operation, which may take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete.

Figure 2-17 shows the confirmation dialog for resetting the machine.
