Introduction
The NUX MG-30 is a versatile modeler equipped with 2 powerful DSPs for high-definition White-Box Amp Modeling algorithm (TSAC-HD) and Core-Image post-effects. It offers a 2K definition experience, superior to the MG-300's Full-HD. The aluminum alloy enclosure provides robust protection, and features like Send/Return, external EXP jacks, moveable signal blocks, optional parallel post-effect routing, and 1024 samples IR resolution make the MG-30 a game-changer in the industry.

Control Panel
The MG-30 features a comprehensive control panel including:
- LCD Screen: Displays patch information and editing parameters.
- MASTER Knob: Controls the overall master volume.
- SAVE Button: Saves current settings.
- Knobs 1 / 2 / 3 / 4: Used for parameter adjustment and navigation.
- 5-Way Direction Encoder: Navigates menus, selects parameters, and adjusts values.
- Signal Block Buttons: Engage/disengage effect blocks or enter editing mode for specific blocks.
- HOME/GLOBAL/EXP Indicator Button: Accesses global settings and indicates EXP pedal status.
- PEDAL: Expression pedal for wah, volume, or other parameter control.
- FOOT SWITCHES (LOOPER, TUNER, CTRL): Control looper functions, tuner activation, and assignable functions like tap tempo or scene switching.
Rear Panel
- INPUT JACK: 1/4" mono input for guitar.
- AUX IN: 1/8" stereo auxiliary input for MP3 players or other audio sources.
- SEND / RETURN JACKS: 1/4" jacks for connecting external effects pedals.
- OUTPUT JACKS (L/MONO, R): 1/4" outputs for connecting to amplifiers or audio interfaces.
- EXP 1: 1/4" TRS jack for an external expression pedal or the NMP-2 dual footswitch.
- USB PORT: USB-C port for firmware updates, USB recording, and connection to QuickTone software.
- DC IN 9V: Jack for connecting the included power adapter.
- DC POWER SWITCH: Turns the unit ON/OFF.
Operation
MASTER Knob: Controls the overall output volume of the MG-30.
SIGNAL BLOCK Buttons: Press once to engage/disengage a block. Hold to edit the block. Hold two blocks to exchange their positions in the signal chain (AMP & IR blocks are fixed together).
5-WAY DIRECTION ENCODER:
- Rotate to switch presets.
- Press to enter edit mode, then use the encoder to select blocks and knobs to adjust parameters.
- Hold UP to adjust current patch level.
- Hold DOWN to adjust EXP/CTRL assignment settings.
- Hold UP in edit mode to adjust signal block order/routing.
- Hold DOWN in edit mode to access on-board EXP/external EXP/CTRL assignment settings.
HOME/GLOBAL/EXP Indicator Button: Hold to enter GLOBAL SETTING. Press once to go back a layer.
SAVE Button: Press to save settings in GLOBAL SETTING or Patch Edit mode.
Knobs 1 / 2 / 3 / 4:
- In edit mode, rotate to adjust parameters. Press a knob to navigate between parameter pages.
- Knob 1 (PRESET mode): Adjusts current patch LEVEL. Press Knob 4 to recall default parameter.
- Knob 2 (PRESET mode): Displays BPM/TIME. Tap Knob 2 for Tap Tempo.
- Knob 3 (PRESET mode): Displays CPU status.
- Knob 4 (PRESET mode): Press and hold to recall default patch.
FOOT SWITCHES:
- DOWN FOOT SWITCH: Cycles down through presets.
- UP FOOT SWITCH: Cycles up through presets.
- CTRL FOOT SWITCH: Assignable to TAP, CMP, GATE, EFX, EQ, SR, MOD, DLY, RVB, or SCENE.
- Press UP & DOWN: Enters DRUM & LOOPER mode. DOWN controls looper, UP controls drum.
- Press UP & CTRL: Enters TUNER mode.
DRUM & LOOPER Operation:
- Loop Footswitch: Press once for REC/PLAY/OVERDUB. Hold for PLAY/UNDO/REDO. Press twice for STOP. Press and hold for CLEAR.
- Rhythm Footswitch: Press once for PLAY/STOP.
- Knob 1: Controls LOOP VOL. Short press to switch MONO/STEREO recording. Long press to enter NR/AR selection.
- Knob 2: Controls DRUM VOL. Short press to enter DRUM EQ (adjust BASS, MIDDLE, TREBLE with Knobs 2, 3, 4).
- Knob 3: Controls TEMPO. Rotate to adjust DRUM BPM, tap for Tap Tempo.
- Knob 4: Controls STYLE. Rotate to adjust DRUM style.
- Double press CTRL to exit DRUM & LOOPER.
TUNER Operation:
- Press UP & CTRL footswitch to enter TUNER.
- Rotate Knob 1 to switch CHROMATIC or COMPEN. G. Press Knob 1 to switch Mute or Listening.
- Rotate Knob 4 to set A4 value.
- Double press CTRL foot switch to exit TUNER.
DC POWER SWITCH: Turns the MG-30 ON/OFF.
DC JACK: Connect the original adapter here.
USB: Connect to a computer for firmware updates, recording, or using QuickTone software. To enter DFU mode for firmware updates, connect the USB cable, then hold UP & DOWN foot switches while turning on the MG-30.
OUTPUT JACKS: L out for mono, R out for stereo.
SEND / RETURN JACKS: Connect external effects pedals.
1/8" PHONE JACK: Connect headphones. Output is related to the main OUTPUT.
1/8" AUX IN: Connect external audio devices.
Global Setting
Hold the HOME/GLOBAL button to enter the GLOBAL SETTING menu.
- PRE EQ: Adjust input trim and 3-band EQ (Trim, Bass, Mid, Treble).
- OUTPUT MODE: Select from 5 output modes (Studio Direct, Combo Front, Stack Front, Combo Rear, Stack Rear) with associated 3-band EQ. IR (Cab) block is bypassed in Combo Front and Stack Front modes.
- EXP SETUP: Configure EXP pedal behavior (independent or patch-related) and perform EXP CALIBRATION by pressing CTRL.
- USB ROUTING: Adjust USB routing settings (also configurable in QuickTone software).
- DISPLAY: Adjust display brightness and settings like patch display format and boot-up picture.
- PARA. FOLLOW: When engaged, the MG-30 remembers parameters when switching back to an effect model. When off, it reverts to default parameters.
- FACTORY DEFAULT: Restore all presets to factory settings.
- GAME: Access the built-in Snake Game.
- INFO: View firmware version and CPU utility.
