PlumbNation 400 Macerator

Installation, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting Guide

Product Overview

This document provides essential information for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the PlumbNation 400 Macerator.

Installation Requirements

Electrics

The unit must be installed in compliance with current UK electrical regulations. It requires a fused spur rated at 3 amps. Installation by a registered electrician is advised. The appliance must be earthed. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified person. The cable type is H05VV-F, 3G0.75mm² VDE. The appliance has an IP54 rating.

Water

This unit is designed for a horizontal toilet outlet with a standard European connection 18cm from the floor. All other inlets must be gravity fed into the unit. The outlet connection is 32mm as standard, but a 22mm connection can be used with a reducer. If using bends in the connecting pipework, ensure they are smooth curves to avoid blockages.

Specification

Water temperature should be a minimum of 1°C and a maximum of 40°C. Maximum vertical discharge is 5.5 meters. Maximum horizontal discharge is 60 meters.

Inputs

The macerator can accommodate multiple inputs, or just one. Blanking plates are provided to seal unused inlets.

Installation

Electrical installation must be performed by qualified persons only. This macerator is designed exclusively for use with a toilet that has a horizontal outlet and a flushing tank or tap. The horizontal outlet must be positioned 18cm above floor level, in accordance with EU standards.

The discharge pipe length to the first elbow must be a minimum of 0.5 meters.

Toilet Only Configuration

A diagram illustrates the toilet-only setup. It shows a toilet connected to the macerator. The macerator is secured to the toilet pan with a supplied jubilee clip. The horizontal toilet outlet is placed into the macerator, and the rubber sleeve is clamped around the pipe using another supplied jubilee clip. This is repeated for the 32mm or 40mm discharge pipe. A check valve is shown on the discharge pipe, with an arrow indicating the direction of flow (pointing upwards, away from the macerator), secured with a jubilee clip.

Check Valve

A check valve must be fitted as close to the macerator as possible, not exceeding 30cm. The connection should be sealed with the supplied jubilee clips, ensuring the arrow on the valve points away from the macerator.

Configuration with Other Appliances

A diagram shows the macerator connected to a toilet, bathroom basin, and potentially other appliances such as a bath, shower, bidet, washing machine, dishwasher, or utility sink. All appliance discharge pipes connect to the macerator via rubber connectors, secured with jubilee clamps.

For installations involving a bath or shower, a gradient of 1cm per meter or greater is required for the discharge pipe. If used with a shower, a second check valve must be fitted between the macerator and the shower tray. If other appliances are connected along the discharge line, check valves must also be installed on those connections.

General Care and Maintenance
