This will help prevent the baby from jerking his limbs during the procedure. CONTRAINDICATIONS: · NEVER use on a patient: · With a dislocation or fracture on the restrained limb; or · If an IV or wound site could be compromised by the device. See the Posey Catalog for other options for such a patient. POSEY PEDIATRIC LIMB HOLDERS REF 4749 10"L x 2"W, (25½ cm x 5 cm), one dozen pair per package. ADVERSE REACTIONS · Not for long-term use. Severe emotional, psychological, or physical problems may occur: if the applied device is uncomfortable; or if it severely limits movement. If symptoms of these problems ever appear for any reason, get help from a qualified medical authority and find a less restrictive, product or intervention. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Before use, check device for damage. Discard if you have any questions about patient safety. 1. Thread the foam straps through the top of the board, under the indent for the limb, and up through the other slot. 2. Straps should be threaded through the slots so that rough area of the hook and loop faces up and away from the baby's skin when the strap is closed. 3. Place infant in tray and position straps close to elbows and knees. 4. To close straps, hold one end of the strap in one hand, while pressing down on baby's arm or leg with the back of that hand. Bring the opposite end of the strap across with the other hand and fasten it snugly. 5. Discard straps contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids. NOTE: Make sure hook and loop fastener is firmly secured before beginning procedure. If it is not secure, the baby could wiggle loose and disrupt the procedure. MONITOR PER FACILITY POLICY. Check to ensure that: · Straps cannot slide in any direction or loosen if the patient pulls on them; · Cuffs are properly secured. If applied too tightly, circulation will be restricted; if applied too loosely, the patient may be able to slip his or her limb from the device; · Cuffs are intact, and not torn or damaged. DO NOT allow patients to ingest product material. · For short-term use only during circumcision procedures.
