NOTE: Buttons design is based on typical model and might be slightly different from the actual one purchased. All functions described are accomplished by the unit. If the unit has no this feature, there is no corresponding operation. If there are wide differences between "Remote controller Illustration" and "USER'S MANUAL", the description of "USER'S MANUAL" shall prevail.
For model RG57Y1/BGEF, if the unit is turned off under COOL, AUTO or DRY mode with the set temperature less than 24°C, the set temperature will be automatically set to 24°C when you turn on the unit again. If the unit is turned off under HEAT mode with the set temperature more than 24°C, the set temperature will be automatically set to 24°C when you turn on the unit again.
Operation Buttons
ON/OFF Button
Turns the air conditioner ON and OFF.
MODE Button
Press to cycle through modes: AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, FAN.
FAN Button
Selects fan speed: AUTO, LOW, MED, HIGH. Fan speed cannot be adjusted in AUTO or DRY mode.
SLEEP Button
Activates/deactivates sleep function for comfortable temperature and energy saving. Available in COOL, HEAT, or AUTO modes.
FRESH Button (applicable to RG57A3/BGEF, RG57D/BGE and RG57Y1/BGEF only)
Activates/deactivates FRESH function, which utilizes an ionizer/plasma dust collector to remove pollen and impurities from the air.
TURBO Button
Activates Turbo function for rapid cooling or heating to reach the set temperature quickly.
SELF CLEAN Button (applicable to RG57(A2)A3/BGEF, RG57Y1/BGEF)
Activates/deactivates Self Clean function.
UP Button (▲)
Increases the set temperature by 1°C increments, up to 30°C.
DOWN Button (▼)
Decreases the set temperature by 1°C increments, down to 17°C. Temperature control is not available in Fan mode.
SHORTCUT Button
Restores previous settings or resumes previous settings. On first use, it defaults to AUTO mode, 26°C, and Auto fan speed. Pressing for more than 2 seconds restores current operation settings.
TIMER ON Button
Initiates the auto-on timer sequence. Increments by 30 minutes, then by 60 minutes after 10 hours. Cancel by setting to 0.0.
TIMER OFF Button
Initiates the auto-off timer sequence. Increments by 30 minutes, then by 60 minutes after 10 hours. Cancel by setting to 0.0.
Indicators on LCD
- AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, FAN: Indicate the current operating mode.
- ON/OFF: Displayed when the remote controller is ON.
- Battery Indicator: Shows low battery status.
- ECO: Not available for this unit.
- ON (Timer): Displayed when TIMER ON time is set.
- OFF (Timer): Displayed when TIMER OFF time is set.
- 8.8: Shows set temperature, room temperature, or time under TIMER setting.
- Sleep Indicator: Displayed during Sleep Mode operation.
- Follow Me Indicator: Indicates the air conditioner is operating in Follow Me mode.
- Fan Speed Indicators (Low, Medium, High, Auto): Show the fan speed setting.
Note: All indicators shown are for presentation purposes. Actual operation displays only the relevant signs.
How to Use the Buttons
Auto Operation
- Ensure the unit is powered on. The OPERATION indicator will flash.
- Press MODE to select Auto.
- Use UP/DOWN buttons to set the desired temperature (17°C~30°C in 1°C increments).
- Press ON/OFF to start the air conditioner.
NOTE: In Auto mode, the air conditioner automatically selects Cooling, Fan, or Heating based on room temperature. Fan speed is automatically controlled and cannot be adjusted.
Cooling/Heating/Fan Operation
- Ensure the unit is powered on.
- Press MODE to select COOL, HEAT (if available), or FAN.
- Use UP/DOWN buttons to set the desired temperature (17°C~30°C in 1°C increments).
- Press FAN to select fan speed (Auto, Low, Med, High).
- Press ON/OFF to start the air conditioner.
NOTE: In FAN mode, temperature setting is not displayed, and room temperature cannot be controlled. Only steps 1, 3, and 4 are applicable.
Dehumidifying Operation
- Ensure the unit is powered on. The OPERATION indicator will flash.
- Press MODE to select DRY.
- Use UP/DOWN buttons to set the desired temperature (17°C~30°C in 1°C increments).
- Press ON/OFF to start the air conditioner.
NOTE: Fan speed cannot be adjusted in Dehumidifying mode; it is automatically controlled.
Adjusting Air Flow Direction
Use the SWING ↕ and SWING ↔ buttons to adjust the vertical and horizontal louver direction. Pressing the button briefly moves the louver 6 degrees. Holding the button for over 2 seconds activates automatic swing.
NOTE: If the louver position affects cooling/heating efficiency, it will automatically adjust its direction.
Timer Operation
Setting Auto-on Time
- Press TIMER ON. The remote displays TIMER ON and the last set time.
- Press TIMER ON repeatedly to set the desired auto-on time. Increments are 0.5 hours (0-10 hours) and 1 hour (10-24 hours).
- After setting, the remote transmits the signal. The 'h' indicator disappears, and the set temperature reappears.
Setting Auto-off Time
- Press TIMER OFF. The remote displays TIMER OFF and the last set time.
- Press TIMER OFF repeatedly to set the desired auto-off time. Increments are 0.5 hours (0-10 hours) and 1 hour (10-24 hours).
- After setting, the remote transmits the signal. The 'h' indicator disappears, and the set temperature reappears.
Combined Timer
Allows setting both auto-on and auto-off timers simultaneously. Refer to the manual for specific combinations (e.g., TIMER OFF → TIMER ON, TIMER ON → TIMER OFF).
CAUTION: Ensure the remote controller can transmit signals to the indoor unit when setting timers.
Handling the Remote Controller
Location of the remote controller
- Use within 8 meters, pointing towards the receiver. Reception is confirmed by a beep.
- Keep the remote controller dry and away from direct sunlight or heat.
- Avoid liquid spills.
- Ensure the infrared receiver is not blocked by curtains or other objects.
- If other appliances react to the remote, move them or consult your dealer.
- Handle with care; do not drop or place heavy objects on it.
Using the remote controller holder (optional)
The holder can be attached to a wall or pillar with screws. Ensure the air conditioner receives signals properly before installation.
Replacing Batteries
Replace batteries when the beep is not emitted or indicators fade. Follow these steps:
- Remove the rear cover.
- Remove old batteries and insert new ones, observing polarity (+/-).
- Install the cover.
NOTE: Removing batteries erases programming. Reprogramming is required after battery replacement.
CAUTIONS: Do not mix old/new or different battery types. Remove batteries if not used for 2-3 months. Dispose of batteries properly.
