Samsung HW-Q930F / HW-Q800F Simple User Guide
This guide provides essential information for setting up and using your Samsung Soundbar system.
01 Checking the Components
Ensure all components are present:
- Soundbar
- Subwoofer
- Surround Speaker x 2 (HW-Q930F only)
- Soundbar Remote Control / Battery
- Power Cable x 4 (HW-Q930F only) / Power Cable x 2 (HW-Q800F only)
- HDMI Cable

02 Product Overview
Familiarize yourself with the soundbar's top, bottom, and rear sides.
03 Connecting the Soundbar to Other Units
Subwoofer and Surround Speakers: When properly connected, the LINK LED indicator on the subwoofer and surround speakers will turn solid blue. If blinking blue, follow the ID SET procedure in the troubleshooting section.
05 Connecting to TV
5-1 Connecting with Cables
HDMI Cable: Connect the HDMI OUT (eARC/ARC) port on the soundbar to the HDMI IN (ARC) port on your TV. Use HDMI cables certified by HDMI.org.
Optical Cable: Connect the DIGITAL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL) port on the soundbar to the OPTICAL OUT port on your TV. Ensure the protective cover is removed from the optical cable.
5-2 Connecting through Wi-Fi
For Samsung TVs (2017 or later), navigate to Sound Output settings and select 'Soundbar (Wi-Fi)'. Ensure both the soundbar and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
04 Connecting to the SmartThings App
- Install App: Download the SmartThings app from your device's app store.
- Register Device: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to register your soundbar. You can also scan the QR code on the soundbar or in the guide.
- Control Soundbar: Use the app to adjust settings like Volume, Sound Mode, and Advanced Sound Settings. Control can be shared with other users via the app's settings.
06 Using the Q-Symphony Feature
When connected to a compatible Samsung TV, Q-Symphony allows sound to play from both the soundbar and TV simultaneously for a richer audio experience. The feature will appear on your TV's settings menu.
07 Connecting to Bluetooth
- Press the connection button on the remote or hold the microphone button (?) on the soundbar for 3 seconds to enter BT PAIRING mode.
- Search for Bluetooth devices on your TV or mobile device and select the soundbar.
- If prompted for a PIN, enter '0000'.
- Pairing can also be initiated via the SmartThings app.
08 Using the Soundbar Remote Control
The remote control allows you to:
- POWER: Turn the soundbar on/off.
- (Input source): Select connected devices.
- (Bluetooth): Enter Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Directional buttons: Navigate menus.
- (Play/Pause): Control media playback.
- (Mute): Mute/unmute sound.
- Sound Mode button: Select different sound modes.
- (Info): View codec information or status.
- (Volume): Adjust overall volume.
- WOOFER: Adjust subwoofer (bass) levels.
- CH LEVEL: Adjust individual speaker channel levels.
- (Sound Settings): Customize audio settings like treble and bass.
09 Installing the Soundbar
Installing on a TV Stand
Place the soundbar on a flat, stable surface, aligning it with the center of the TV. Ensure the microphone is not obstructed.
Installing on a Wall
Mount the soundbar on a vertical wall using appropriate screws and brackets. Ensure the wall can support the weight. Turn off power and unplug the soundbar before installation. Connect all cables before mounting.
For wall-mounting surround speakers, ensure the wall supports at least 8 kg and use appropriate screws (e.g., 1/4 - 20 UNC screw).
10 Troubleshooting
No Power: Ensure the power cord is securely connected.
Subwoofer/Surround Speakers Not Connecting: Perform the ID SET procedure by holding ID SET on the subwoofer/speakers and the UP button on the remote for 5 seconds. The LINK LED should turn solid blue.
Remote Not Working: Check battery, ensure clear line of sight, and bring the remote closer to the soundbar.
No Sound: Check volume levels, mute status, and TV sound output settings. Ensure the soundbar is selected as the audio output on the TV.
No Sound from Subwoofer/Surround Speakers: Verify the LINK LED indicator is blue. If red or blinking blue, re-establish the connection.
HDMI TO TV (eARC/ARC) Connection Issues: Ensure the HDMI cable is secure in the ARC/eARC port. Disable other connected devices temporarily. Enable Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) on your TV.
Bluetooth Connection Issues: Ensure BT PAIRING mode is active. Remove and re-pair the device. Check for radio interference or distance issues.
Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Verify the wireless router is on and functioning. Move the router closer or to an unobstructed location if the signal is weak.
TV On, Soundbar Not On: Ensure the TV is powered off before the soundbar to maintain the Auto Power Link feature.
Indicator Light Red: The microphone is turned off. It turns off when the microphone is on.
