Attaching the SIM card
Refer to the diagram for SIM card insertion. Use the SIM card removal tool (sample) to eject the tray.
Turning the Power On
- Press and hold the (Side button) for over 2 seconds.
- Swipe the screen up and down, left and right to unlock.
Note: If the power cannot be turned off or the screen freezes, press and hold the (Side button) and the lower side of the Volume button simultaneously for over 7 seconds.

General Usage Precautions
- Communication may be affected in areas with poor signal reception.
- Communication intercepts by third parties cannot be eliminated, though 5G/LTE/WiMAX 2+/GSM/UMTS systems offer secure communication.
- Only VoLTE (LTE network) is available for Japanese emergency services.
- The product supports au World Service, but network services vary by area and content.
- The product is subject to inspection under the Radio Law.
- IMEI information is sent to the carrier for maintenance and monitoring.
- Check overseas regulations before using the product abroad.
- The Company is not liable for damages caused by natural disasters, third-party actions, customer misuse, or unusual conditions.
- The Company is not liable for incidental damages such as loss of business income or disruption of business.
- The Company is not liable for damages resulting from failure to observe manual instructions.
- Positioning data from sensors and GPS is for reference only.
- The Company is not liable for damages caused by combination with non-Company devices or software.
- Data loss due to malfunction, repair, or mishandling is not the Company's liability. Back up important data.
- Content data (paid or free) cannot be transferred during replacement due to malfunction or repair.
- Organic EL display characteristics may include afterimages or brightness/color changes. These are not malfunctions. Set display lighting to a short time to prevent afterimages and save power.
- Organic EL displays may have some dots that do not light up or are always lit, or exhibit color unevenness. These are structural characteristics, not malfunctions.
- Avoid exposing the Organic EL display to direct sunlight to prevent faults.
- Back up photo/video and music data to a computer or cloud service. Copyright-protected data may not be copyable.
- Do not discard the product with regular trash. Cooperate in collection and recycling efforts.

Safety Precautions (Observe Strictly)
Read and follow these precautions to prevent injury, product damage, or property damage.
Explanation of Symbols
- Danger: Denotes that death or serious injury may directly result from improper use.
- Warning: Denotes that death or serious injury may result from improper use.
- Caution: Denotes that minor injury or property damage may result from improper use.
- Don’t: Indicates a prohibited action.
- Do: Indicates a mandatory action.
- No disassembly: Indicates that disassembly is not allowed.
- No wet hands: Indicates that handling with wet hands is not allowed.
- Unplug: Indicates that the power plug must be disconnected from the outlet.
Precautions Common to Main Unit, Battery, Charging Equipment, SIM Card, S Pen, Accessories
Danger
- Do not use, store, or leave the product in high-temperature areas or places where heat builds up (near fires, heating devices, inside bedding, under direct sunlight, in a hot car). May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
- Do not place the product near microwave ovens, induction cookers, heaters, or high-pressure vessels. May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
- Do not allow liquids (water, sweat, seawater, pet urine) into the charging jack or external connection terminal. Do not charge in wet environments (bathroom, near humidifier). May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks. Refer to P.42 for waterproofness/dustproofness.
- Do not apply strong pressure, break, bump, or pinch the product. Damage to the internal battery may cause fire, burns, or injury. Avoid sitting on it, clipping it, stepping on it, or inserting it into seats.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the product. May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
- Do not remove the internal battery. May cause fire, burns, or injuries.
- Do not attempt to remove the rear cover. If the product is swollen, do not attempt to remove the cover or force it. Doing so may cause fire, burns, or injury.
- Use only specified charging equipment from the Company. Using other equipment may cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
Warning
- Do not subject the product to strong forces, impacts, or vibration (dropping, stepping on, throwing). May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
- Do not allow conductive foreign objects (metal pieces, pencil lead) to contact charging or external connection terminals. Do not allow dust or sand inside the product. May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
- Do not stick metal objects on or place them between the wireless charger and the product. May cause fire, burns, or injuries.
- When charging with a wireless charger, remove the product's cover. The cover material, thickness, or foreign matter may prevent proper charging, leading to fire, burns, or injury.
- Turn the product OFF near high-precision electronic control equipment or equipment using low-power signals (hearing aids, pacemakers, medical equipment). Failure to do so may cause equipment failure or malfunction. Consult manufacturers for effects of radio waves on medical equipment.
- If charging is not completed after the specified time, stop charging. Overcharging may cause fire, burns, or injuries.
- Turn the product OFF and stop charging before entering areas with flammable gases or dust. Ignition may cause explosion or fire.
- When using in facilities like gas stations, follow instructions. Do not charge in gas stations. Be careful not to drop the product, especially while refueling. Ignition may cause explosion or fire.
- If abnormalities (odor, noise, smoke, heat, discoloration, deformation) are observed, take safety precautions and turn the product OFF. Failure to do so may cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
Caution
- Do not use the product in a damaged condition. May cause fire, burns, or injuries.
- Do not place the product on an unstable surface (wobbly stand, tilted surface). Be careful when the product is in vibration mode. May fall and cause injuries.
- Do not use or store the product in damp, dusty, or hot areas. May cause fire, burns, or electric shocks. Refer to P.42 for waterproofness/dustproofness.
- Children using the product should be instructed by an adult. Ensure correct operation. May be accidentally swallowed or cause injuries.
- Do not place the product within reach of infants or pets. Pay attention to small parts like the SIM card tray and removal tool. May be accidentally swallowed or cause injuries.
- The product may become warm during continuous use or charging. Avoid continuous contact with high-temperature areas (pockets, while sleeping) to prevent skin redness, itching, rash, or low-temperature burns.
- If skin problems develop, stop using the product and see a doctor.
- Check for metal fragments on magnetic parts (speaker, camera, vibrator). Adhesion of fragments may cause injuries.
- When viewing the display, maintain a distance in a well-lit place. Viewing in the dark or too close may cause diminished eyesight.
Main Unit Specific Precautions
Danger
- Do not put the product in fire or attempt to heat it. May cause fire, burns, or injuries.
- Do not puncture with a sharp object, strike with a hard object, stomp on, or apply excessive force. May cause fire, burns, or injuries.
- If the substance inside the product gets into eyes or mouth, rinse with clean water and seek medical attention immediately. The substance may cause loss of sight or poor health.
Warning
- Do not turn on or emit light with the flash/light close to a person's eyes, especially infants. This can cause vision problems, dizziness, or startled eyes, potentially leading to injury.
- Do not look at a flashing screen for a long time. May cause seizure or loss of consciousness.
- Do not insert liquids or foreign objects (metal fragments, flammable materials) into the SIM card slot and S Pen slot. Do not insert the SIM card incorrectly. May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
- Do not expose the camera lens to direct sunlight for a long time. Light gathering may cause fire, burns, or injuries.
- When boarding an airplane, turn the product OFF or turn airplane mode ON. Follow airline instructions. Radio waves may affect aircraft electronics. Prohibited acts may be punishable by law.
- When using in a medical facility, follow instructions. Turn OFF in prohibited areas. Radio waves may affect electronic and medical equipment.
- Move the product away from your ear during calls (handsfree, loud ringtone, waiting for calls). Set volume to moderate levels for games, videos, or music. Prolonged use at high volumes may cause hearing loss. High volume can also make it difficult to hear surrounding sounds, leading to accidents.
- If you have a weak heart, be careful with vibrate ringtone or volume settings. Sudden vibrations or ringtones may harm the heart.
- When using electronic medical equipment, consult the manufacturer about radio wave effects. Radio waves may adversely affect medical equipment.
- If the display or camera lens is broken, be careful of broken parts or exposed internal parts. Touching them may cause burns, injuries, or electric shocks.
- If the internal battery leaks or emits an odor, stop using the product immediately and move it away from fire. Leaked fluid may ignite or explode.
- Prevent pets from biting the product. The internal battery may ignite, explode, generate heat, or leak, causing fire, burns, or injuries.
Caution
- For motion sensor use, check surroundings, hold the product, and do not swing excessively. May cause injuries.
- If the display is damaged and internal substance leaks, do not let it contact skin, face, or clothes. May cause eye or skin problems. Rinse affected areas with clean water and seek medical attention if necessary.
- Do not dispose of the product with regular trash. May cause fire, burns, injuries, or environmental damage. Follow municipal disposal instructions.
- If material inside the internal battery leaks, do not get it on skin or clothing. May cause eye or skin problems. Rinse affected areas with clean water and seek medical attention if necessary.
- When removing a SIM card, be careful of the SIM card removal tool's tip to avoid finger injuries.
- When using the product in a car, check with the manufacturer about radio wave effects. Stop using the product if it adversely affects in-vehicle equipment.
Precautions for Waterproofness/Dustproofness
The product is waterproof and dustproof when the SIM card tray and S Pen are fully installed and closed.
- Never open or close the SIM card tray when your hand or the product is wet.
- Do not immerse the product in liquids other than tap water (seawater, pool water, hot spring water, soap water, detergent water, bath salts, alcohol, beverages, seasonings, pet urine). If liquids get on the product, wash with clean water, wipe with a soft cloth, and allow to dry completely.
- Do not place the product on beach sand. Sand or particles may enter the speaker, causing volume drops or overheating/faults.
- Do not use the product underwater or strike it against the water surface. Touch operations may not work, or malfunctions may occur.
- Do not use or store the product in bathrooms, kitchens, or other highly humid areas for extended periods.
- Water may remain on the product after draining. Keep away from objects you don't want to get wet.
- If water accumulates in speakers, drain the water.
- Do not apply high water pressure directly or submerge for long periods.
- Do not wash the product using a washing machine or ultrasound cleaner.
- Do not immerse the product in a bathtub; it is not heat resistant.
- Abrupt temperature changes may cause condensation. Wait for the product to reach normal temperature in warm environments.
- The product does not float in water.
- Do not charge the product in the bathroom.
- If the product gets wet, drain water and wipe with a soft, dry, clean cloth.
- Waterproof/dustproof performance may deteriorate over time due to natural wear and tear or operating environment.
Note: The Company does not guarantee operations under all conditions. Malfunctions due to customer misuse are not covered by warranty.
Handling Precautions
Read these precautions to prevent malfunctions and ensure full performance.
- Use the product within an ambient temperature range of 5℃ to 35℃ and humidity range of 35% to 85%. Provisional use is possible between 36℃ to 40℃. This applies to the main unit, S Pen, and SIM card.
- Charging equipment and accessory devices should be used within an ambient temperature range of 5℃ to 35℃ and humidity range of 35% to 85%.
- Clean charging terminals and external connection terminals with a dry cotton swab. Do not apply strong force.
- Do not use the S Pen with other devices; it may cause malfunctions or damage.
- Use the S Pen without excessive force. Avoid placing it in luggage or sitting on it, as it may break or malfunction.
- When not in use, attach the S Pen to the product.
- When shooting important occasions, take a trial shot and check the image.
- Do not use the camera in prohibited areas.
- Respect copyrights and portrait rights when copying, distributing, publishing, modifying, or editing data. Obtain consent for using individuals' portraits or names. Shooting and recording may be restricted at some events even for private use. Be mindful of copyright and portrait rights when publishing photos online.
Notes on Bluetooth® / Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) Functions
- Connections with all Bluetooth® and wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) devices are not confirmed and not guaranteed.
- While the product supports security features, security may be insufficient depending on the usage environment. Exercise caution during data communication.
- Wireless LAN uses radio waves, offering connectivity anywhere within range. However, unauthorized access by third parties is possible if security settings are not configured. Configure security settings at your own responsibility.
- The Company is not responsible for data or information leakage during Bluetooth®/wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) communication.
- Using Bluetooth® and wireless LAN (Wi-Fi®) simultaneously may cause radio wave interference, decreasing speed or causing disconnections. If connection fails, stop using one of the functions.
Notes on Data Communication Charge
- Automatic data communication by some applications may result in high charges. Subscription to a data communication discount service or flat-rate plan is recommended.
- Data communication charges apply for browsing websites, downloading applications, using applications, sending/receiving emails, and performing product settings via the Internet.
Notes on Call Charge
- Ensure calls are disconnected by performing the call ending operation. Forgetting to end calls may result in high charges.
Take Your Manners with You
- Do not listen to music or watch videos while driving or riding. This is prohibited by law. Pay attention to traffic around you even when walking. Using a phone can impair hearing of surrounding sounds, leading to accidents. Be especially careful at railroad crossings, station platforms, and pedestrian crossings.
- Follow airline instructions regarding device usage on aircraft.
Appendix
After-Sales Service
When asking for repair
- Contact the Repair and Delivery Support Center.
- During warranty period: Repairs are determined as free or paid based on warranty terms.
- Outside warranty period: Repairs are charged if the product can be rendered usable.
- The warranty is valid for one year from the purchase date.
- Back up storage contents before repair, as they may disappear. The Company is not liable for damages or loss of income due to content alteration or loss.
- Recycled parts meeting quality standards may be used for repair. Replaced mechanical parts are collected and recycled and cannot be returned.
- Products processed, remodeled, analyzed (including software modification, reverse engineering, decompiling), or repaired by unauthorized facilities are not covered by warranty and repair may be refused.
- The product battery is a consumable item and not covered by warranty. Accessories (except S Pen) and samples are not covered by free-of-charge repairs warranty.
Performance parts for repair
The Company retains performance parts for repair of the main unit and S Pen for four years after discontinuation of production.
Free-of-charge repair warranty
- Have the serial number (IMEI number) ready when contacting the repair help desk.
- If the product malfunctions during the warranty period under normal use following manual precautions, the Company will repair it for free.
- Repairs will not be free of charge (or may not be possible) in the following cases, even during the warranty period:
- Failure to follow the instruction manual.
- Unauthorized repairs or modifications.
- Repairs at a non-authorized facility.
- Damage due to accident or customer negligence (dropped, wet, etc.).
- Damage due to natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, fire, salt damage, abnormal voltage).
- Repair may not be possible depending on the extent of damage.
- The Company assumes no responsibility for damages or lost profits incurred due to product failure.
- The Company assumes no responsibility for accidents occurring when connecting non-specified devices.
- On-site repairs are not offered.
- This warranty is valid only in Japan.
This warranty guarantees free repair based on the period and conditions listed. It does not restrict customers' legal rights.
