History
FISHER was the brand name for hi-fi electronic equipment manufactured in New York by The Fisher Radio Corporation during the "golden age" of the vacuum tube, which was named after the company founder, Avery Fisher (1906-1994).
Key Milestones:
- 1937: First high-fidelity sound system featuring a beam power amplifier, inverse feedback, acoustic speaker compartments (infinite baffle and bass reflex) and magnetic cartridges.

- 1960: First reverberation device for use in high fidelity equipment: the Fisher Dynamic Spacexpander.
- 1961: First complete FM-multiplex stereo receivers.
- 1966: First FM tuner with automatic RF attenuator.
- 1966: First time-division multiplex circuit to incorporate a four-diode coincidence circuit.
- 1967: First to introduce high fidelity equipment with seven integrated circuits (IC's).
- 1968: First receiver with Autoscan - totally silent electronic touch tuning.
- 1969: First receiver with sequential Autoscan signal seeking.
- 1971: First all-electronic remote tuning on two and four channel receivers. No moving parts.
- 1972: First receivers with phase lock loop MPX decoder.
- 1973: First speaker system with flare-dome midrange.
- 1977: First successful application and introduction of linear motor direct drive turntables.
- 1978: First cassette deck with wireless remote control for tape editing.
- 1978: First cassette deck with full function infrared wireless remote control.
- 1980: First microcomputer high fidelity system with full function infrared wireless remote control.
