What's in the Box
The package contains:
- 3x Smart Wi-Fi Plugs (Each is an outline of a standard electrical outlet with two vertical slots and a U-shaped ground slot)
- User Manual
Get Ready
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- Your Wi-Fi network name and password.
- A mobile device running iOS® 13 or higher or Android™ 10 or higher.
- A 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. (Merkury plugs cannot connect to 5GHz networks).
Step 1: Download & Register
Download the Merkury Smart App from the App Store or Google Play.
Register an account on your Merkury App:
- Enter your mobile phone number or email address.
- Enter the verification code and create a password.
- Log in to the App.
Step 2: Plug In
Plug the Merkury device into a wall outlet. The indicator light on the device should be flashing rapidly blue, indicating it's ready to connect.
Indicator Light Status: Flashing quickly [ready to connect]
Reset Button: Hold down the button to reset the device.
See reset instructions on page 4.
Step 3: Ways to Connect
Easiest: Add using Bluetooth Discovery
- Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is on and the device's indicator light is flashing.
- In the Merkury app, press the Bluetooth icon ?.
- Click "Add Now" when prompted and follow the app instructions.
Add device: Easy Mode
- In the Merkury app, navigate to the Devices screen and tap the '+' icon ➕. Choose "Smart Power".
- Ensure the indicator light on the device is flashing rapidly blue (Easy Mode). If not, press and hold the button for 3 seconds until the light flashes rapidly, then press "Next Step".
- Enter your Wi-Fi network name and password.
- The Merkury app will attempt to connect your device.
Note: Merkury cannot connect to 5GHz networks. If connection fails, try AP Mode.
Add device: Backup AP Mode
- Ensure the device is in AP Mode, indicated by a slow blinking light. (See reset instructions on page 4).
- In the Merkury app, navigate to the Devices screen, tap '+', choose "Smart Power", then select "AP Mode" in the top corner.
- Click "Next" and enter your Wi-Fi details.
- Follow the instructions to connect to the device's Wi-Fi hotspot (e.g., "Merkury-XXXX" or "Geeni-XXXX").
- The device will connect to your Wi-Fi network.
Indicator Light Status: Flashing slowly [AP Mode]
How do I reset the device and what does the blinking light mean?
To reset the plug, press and hold the button for 3 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly.
- Easy Mode: Fast blinking blue (2x per second). Achieved by a single press-and-hold reset.
- AP Mode: Slow blinking blue.
Questions, Troubleshooting, Notices
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I share with family and friends? Yes, you can share access to your Merkury devices. In the Geeni app, go to Profile > Device Sharing. The other user must have the Geeni app downloaded and an account registered.
- Can I group multiple Merkury devices together? Yes, you can group devices by type, room, or location. From your main device list, select a device, press the '...' button [...] for advanced settings, and choose "Create Group".
- How Many Devices Can I Control? The Geeni app supports an unlimited number of devices. Your router may have a limit on the number of devices it can connect.
- How do I rename my device? From your main device list, select a device, press the '...' button [...] for advanced settings, and choose "Modify Device Name" (or "Modify Group Name").
- The device appears offline or unreachable, what should I do? Ensure your Wi-Fi router is online and within range. Check for firmware updates in the Geeni app by clicking "Check for firmware update" in your device settings.
- What's the Wireless Range? The range depends heavily on your home Wi-Fi router and room conditions. Consult your router's specifications for exact data.
- If my Wi-Fi/Internet goes down, will Merkury still work? Merkury products require a Wi-Fi connection to function remotely.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot connect to your Wi-Fi network: Ensure you entered the correct Wi-Fi password. Check for internet connection problems. If the Wi-Fi signal is weak, reset your Wi-Fi router and try again.

Voice Control Guide
Thank you for purchasing your MERKURY smart home product. Ensure your devices are set up using the Merkury app, then follow these steps.
Google Assistant
To control your MERKURY smart bulbs, plugs, or surge protectors, say "OK Google" or "Hey Google," and ask. Make sure your devices are already set up using the Geeni app.
Things you can say*:
- "Hey Google, turn on all the lights in my bedroom."
- "Hey Google, turn off fan."
- "Hey Google, set the bedroom light to orange."
- "Hey Google, turn off the coffee machine.”
- "Hey Google, set the living room to 50%."
- "Hey Google, dim porch light."
*Some commands require compatible devices.
- Open the Google Home app and go to Home Control in the menu.
- Tap the "+" button ➕.
- Choose "Merkury" from the list of Home Control partners.
- Authorize your account with Google Assistant using your Merkury app username and password.
Your Google Home app and MERKURY devices are now linked! You can now say "Hey Google" to control your MERKURY devices.
You can rename devices in the Merkury app or Google Home app to set nicknames and assign them to rooms. Google Assistant will use these names.
Amazon Alexa
To control your MERKURY smart bulbs, plugs, or surge protectors, ask Alexa. Make sure your devices are already set up using the Geeni app.
Things you can say*:
- "Alexa, discover my devices."
- "Alexa, turn on the bedroom light."
- "Alexa, set the bedroom light to orange.”
- "Alexa, turn off the coffee machine."
- "Alexa, set the living room to 50%.”
- "Alexa, dim porch light."
*Some commands require compatible devices.
- Open the Alexa app and go to Skills in the menu.
- Search for Merkury, then tap Enable.
- Authorize your account with Smart Home Skills using your Geeni app username and password.
- Choose "Discover Devices." Your MERKURY devices will be displayed under Smart Home in the Alexa app.
You can rename devices in the Merkury app, and Alexa will refer to them by the same name. Alternatively, you can create an Alexa group (e.g., "Bedroom" or "Downstairs") and add the device to it.
