How it Works
The Leaf Eater Stream Original's open cover channels water through an angled mosquito-proof screen to keep leaves and pests out of your rainwater system.
Installation Steps
- Locate the position for installation, either under the gutter/eave or mid-way down a vertical downpipe. Ensure the rain head is a minimum of 500mm above your tank inlet and tank overflow pipe. Choose a location that allows for easier maintenance.
- Cut your downpipe where the bottom outlet of the Leaf Eater Stream rain head will sit. Cut the upper section of pipe approximately 300mm above the first cut. Ensure all cut edges are clean and smooth. [Diagram 1: Shows cutting the downpipe at two points, approximately 300mm apart.]
- Remove the cover from your Leaf Eater Stream and slide it up the top pipe, holding it in position. [Diagram 2: Shows the Leaf Eater Stream Original cover being slid upwards onto the upper section of the cut downpipe.]
- Fit the Leaf Eater Stream body onto the lower section of pipe, ensuring the outlet is seated firmly. [Diagram 3: Depicts the Leaf Eater Stream Original body being fitted onto the lower section of the downpipe.]
- Slide the cover back down the top pipe and lower its bottom skirt into the corresponding channel between the screen and the body. [Diagram 4: Illustrates the final assembly, with the cover slid down and its lower skirt fitting into the gap between the screen and the body.]
- If desired, paint the rain head to match your downpipes and/or building.
Maintenance
Occasionally, your Leaf Eater Stream will require maintenance. Slide the cover up the inlet pipe to access the mesh screen. You can brush off debris while the screen is in place or remove it for more thorough cleaning. After cleaning, replace the screen into the body, ensuring it is evenly seated. Replace the Original Cover by sliding it up the inlet pipe and lowering it into position so the lower skirt sits in the gap between the screen and the body.
Rain Harvesting Approach
A common misconception about collecting rainwater is that all you need is a roof, a tank, and some rain. This 'tanking' approach cannot always be relied upon to deliver the volume or quality of water required. Rain Harvesting systems can provide cleaner water and greater volumes with thoughtful design. Their approach involves using tested and proven products to make quality rainwater available for use on properties. Getting started is simple, and users can maximize their rainwater system's potential.
