Static electricity can cause severe damage to PCI Express cards. Ensure proper grounding before opening the computer case or touching the PCI Express card. Use an Anti-Static Strap when installing any computer component. If an Anti-Static Strap isn't available, discharge built-up static electricity by touching a large grounded metal surface for several seconds. Handle the PCI Express card by its edges, avoiding contact with the gold connectors. 1. Turn off the Computer and any Peripheral Devices that are connected to it (for example, Printers, External Hard Drives, etc.). 2. Unplug the Power Cable from the back of the Computer. 3. Disconnect any Peripheral Devices that are connected to the Computer. 4. Remove the Cover from the Computer Case. Consult the documentation that came with the Computer for details about how to do this safely. 5. Locate an open PCI Express Slot and remove the corresponding Slot Cover Plate from the back of the Computer Case. Consult the documentation that came with the Computer for details about how to do this safely. This card works in PCI Express x4, x8, or x16 slots. 6. Gently insert the PCI Express Card into the open PCI Express Slot and fasten the Bracket to the back of the Computer Case. 7. (Optional) Connect a LP4 or SATA Power Cable from the Host Computer's Power Supply to the LP4 or SATA Power Connector, located on the rear of the PCIe USB Card. Note: It's recommended to connect the LP4 or Sata Power to ensure sufficient power is provided to the card and to each USB port. Reconnect the Power Cable to the back of the Computer. 10. Reconnect all of the Peripheral Devices that were disconnected in Step 3. 11. Turn on the Computer and Peripheral Devices. Install the Driver 1. Open an Internet Browser and navigate to: www.StarTech.com/P5Q4A-USB-CARD 2. Click the Drivers & Downloads tab. 3. Under Driver(s), download the Driver for the operating system. 4. Extract the contents of the Driver Package 5. Execute the Installer and follow the on-screen instructions to finish installing the Driver.
