DESCRIPTION
The FILO GM-20P is a window intercom system composed of a desktop microphone intercom and an external unit. It facilitates communication through separation screens or protective glass in various environments such as banks, cinemas, offices, security checkpoints, private access areas, and car parks.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
The system includes a desktop base with controls and an external speaker unit. The desktop base features an OFF/LO-HI control, a call push button, and PTT (push to talk) buttons. The external unit contains a loudspeaker and a microphone. Connections include an AC/DC adapter socket and a 2 x RCA cable and 3.5mm jack. An EM/DM switcher is present on the back panel.
Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates the FILO GM-20P intercom system. Components labeled include: Desktop base with controls (OFF/LO-HI, Call push button, PTT buttons), Microphone on a flexible arm, External speaker (EM/DM switcher, Loudspeaker, Microphone, LED power indicator, AC/DC adapter socket), and a 2 x RCA cable and 3.5mm jack connection.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- To turn the system on, turn the OFF/LO-HI control on the base of the microphone clockwise. The red LED indicator will light up, confirming the system is active.
- Adjust the volume of the internal and external speakers by placing the control between the LO-HI positions.
- Pressing the call button on the external intercom will trigger a ring tone from the table-top microphone to alert the person behind the window/screen.
- The customer can speak and hear through the external intercom.
- Press to talk function: To speak through the table-top intercom microphone, press and hold the talk button. The microphone will transmit while the button is held and close when released.
- For optimal communication, speak approximately 5cm from the microphone.
- The table-top microphone incorporates a voice control system (VOX noise port). This system automatically closes the microphone if the voice level is too low, preventing feedback from nearby equipment or involuntary eavesdropping. The microphone opens and allows communication when the voice level exceeds a certain threshold.
- To turn the system off, move the OFF/LO-HI control to the OFF position.
- The EM/DM selector on the back panel should be set to 'EM' to use the supplied electret condenser microphone (which requires a +15 V DC power supply between pins 1 and 2). If a dynamic microphone is used, set the switch to 'DM'.
ASSEMBLY AND WIRING
Wiring Connections: Connect the mains adapter. Select the EM position on the switch. Connect the RC cables (observing color coding) and the 3.5mm jack. Connect the microphone into its socket on the base. The diagram also indicates a screw accessed from the front.
Diagram Description: Illustrates the wiring process: connecting the mains adapter, setting the EM position switch, connecting RC cables and the 3.5mm jack, and plugging the microphone into the base. It also shows a screw on the front panel.
INSTALLATION OF THE EXTERNAL SPEAKER WITH VELCRO
This section details installing the external speaker using Velcro:
- Separate the circular Velcro piece, which has adhesive on both sides.
- Stick one piece of Velcro onto the rear part of the exterior loudspeaker.
- Stick the other piece of Velcro onto the glass surface where the speaker will be mounted.
- Position the exterior loudspeaker in front of the Velcro on the glass.
- Install the exterior loudspeaker by joining the two pieces of Velcro.
Diagram Description: A step-by-step visual guide showing how to attach the external speaker using Velcro. It depicts the Velcro components, application to the speaker and glass, and the final attachment.
INSTALLATION OF THE EXTERNAL SPEAKER WITH SCREWS
This section details installing the external speaker using screws:
- Make a 50mm hole in the selected mounting location.
- Unscrew and separate the rear part of the loudspeaker from the main unit.
- Pass the cables through the hole made in the partition.
- Pass the cables through the rear part of the loudspeaker.
- Position the rubber washer between the rear part of the loudspeaker and the partition for a secure fit.
- Tighten the screws to firmly secure the external speaker in place.
